As enticing as this sounds...

I'd be happy to see Dallas sign Olivier Vernon... he worked Tyron Smith over last season... nice addition... maybe create some
pressure, sack-fumbles and even (gasp!) a few interceptions from the secondary... hopefully Miami will remove the transition tag.

He's a beast. I can't imagine a reason they'd really let him walk, though. Why would they?

Cost. Even at the transition tag, Miami was looking at $13 million a year. And now they've just signed Mario Williams for around $9-$10 million per year. I figure something's gotta give.

And, given that Jacksonville, the team with the most cap space in the league is reportedly hot after him, I think that should eliminate the Cowboys from any conversation.

Last thing I saw is they plan to keep him. If not he won't be in dallas.

Most likely will go to the giants if he leaves.

If the trade with the Eagles is dead he probably ends up staying now.

Yeah, but how often do you see a team sign an old guy for $8m per and then turn around and let a 26 year old edge rusher walk over $13m? The last time I can remember anything like that happening was Jared Allen when KC let him go to MIN. That involved serious compensation, and it was still a huge mistake.

Maybe because they suddenly aren't taking on Maxwell's contract...............

Would seem logical. With Jacksonville interested though, they could make it impossible for Miami to keep him. They have to spend just to hit the floor so getting into a bidding war with them is not going to end well for any team.

Today. They pulled the transition tag. That now allows Miami to get a sweet compensatory pick for him next year.

That's just colossally stupid.

I'd be all over this guy, for the record.

He's a very good player, but the cost is gonna be sky high.

We can't compete with the dollars the Jags and Ginats will be offering.

We're shopping in the Adrian Clayborn / Chris Long bargain bin.

Don't smudge the glass!

We could compete if we wanted him. Young impact DEs without baggage or strings don't hit the market very often. When they do, you have to consider it.

Don't you trust Jerry when he says that if we had Romo healthy last year, we would have been competing for a Super Bowl??

No reason to sign anybody this offseason since we will have Romo back next year. All is well in Cowboy land.

The "Sign a bunch of FA get a Super Bowl ring" has been said for the Eagles twice now, 2011 and 2015.

Signing every big name FA you can doesn't always translate to success.
