On 2nd Look, Keandre Coburn is a Fit, Rising for Me

OK, so I've seen this guy up close in real life, and stood next to him. He is literally about twice as big as myself. When I saw him, he was really laid back, assertive, and fit in the environment quite nicely. So, he has the first thing I look for, demeanor.

As a Texas alumni, I don't watch much Texas football. I don't know what it is. Maybe the fact I grew up around Austin just kind of made the Longhorns lose their charm. When I attended, Colt McCoy was like the man and I just never followed the team. Too busy studying, I suppose.

Anyway, so I hadn't really looked at Coburn up close as far as watching his game in college. But this dude has a really nice motor, quickness, skills, and strikes me of the kind of player Dan Quinn could really really work with.

Many have him in the late 5, or 6th round, as a prospect. I see him rising into the 3rd as the draft approaches. This kid here does a really good job at breaking down his career, strengths, and trajectory.

This is exactly the kind of player I think the Cowboys fans are looking for. Not sure about what the team thinks, but I really like this player.

He reminds me of a guy who could even rise into the late 2nd for our pick. Not someone on everyone's radar right now, but I think once you put the player under the microscope a bit more, he starts to rise a bit.

Could Coburn be a top 50 player from this draft?

I actually think maybe.

Check lil dude out in high school. I don't know. All I'm saying is don't let this dude fall off your radar. I'm telling you, this guy is just a freaking monster...

Sites I use have him a 6th. Don't think he'll make a 3 round jump. He's short withshort arms. He does get off blocks fast enough because of the lack of length. He's strong but he's staying a 6th.

All you gotta do is watch that oklahoma game you posted. He cant get off blocks.
 
Probably in that Quinton Bohanna/John Ridgeway range of the draft. He's okay but I'm not sure he's that stud-type of NT prospect. Now his teammate at Texas T'vondre Sweat - he will be a DT to watch out for in next year's draft

I don't see it. A 330+ player with really short arms should have more than 24 bench reps.

What we have seen over the last several years, teams don’t value these two down players, they usually start to come off the board in mid rd 3, where most are available in day 3.
 
OK, so maybe round 3 is bit too high. But late round 3? At that point, they may just be addressing needs with the player they like regardless of where they have them ranked. So I can see him going in the 3rd.

Maybe I'm missing something. I just see a guy who could put on some strength and conditioning, and really become a great NFL player with the right coach. He's no chump.

Plus, this guy is so big. They say 6'2, but with the size of his head and all that, he feels like 6'4, but it's just width. You'd have to stand next to him to see what I mean. He's super wide.. and thick, so not like a fat guy stuffed in a skinny guy's body. That's important to me.

And his motor. He kinda wears that chip on his shoulder on his sleeve. Would fit in the culture.

The thing with this is, trends come and go. I'm well aware of this trend, as a local, who's been around the school a whole lot.

You still have to evaluate the player on an individual basis.

Anyway, he's obviously not a first round, probably not 2nd round guy.. But for that guy we need, I think you can start talking about it in the 3rd, maybe 4th round.

We'll see, though. I realize he's not a top 100 player. But the tools and all that are there
 
Also, the player, to watch in that Oklahoma game would be Overshown.....
