How about just being honest with players. Tell them your expectations. In this case, Pickens is the WR2 so just tell the guy.

Pickens has let everyone know that he's happy being a Cowboy. He'll perform as best he can and so, that's pretty doggone good. How Stephen sees him doesn't amount to much. It's just how Pickens feels that counts. He's happy -- and that's likely to affect his play just fine. This offense will do quite well.

NOW we need a speedy guy like Cooks who’s gonna benefit from LB coverage or single CB coverage because the other 2 are doubled.
