BOLD = still in NFL

With Gardner on IR, those seem like pretty good at 62%. Not sure how that compares to other teams.
But I would bet the regular suspects here would say the other teams are still doing better than us, at 99%. LOL.

Every team in the NFL drafts better than us. They've all improved and we've gotten worse, haven't you heard?

Every move that works out is simply what was supposed to happen.

Every move that doesn't work out is because Jerry Jones is the worst GM ever and a crazy egomaniac who is ruining everyone's life. Same with every injury and every time someone's kid fails a test in school or their attractive significant other cheats on them.

(Oh, and if your significant other is fat and ugly, that's Jerry's fault too)

They won't bother to support an actual argument. Easier to say our team is bad, and thus easier to make, and to leave it at that.

"stil in the nfl" does not equal "turned out to be a good player for us"

He's mentioning it as a measure of the players' relative ability. Ie, it's a worse pick if the player is unable to play anywhere in the league.

And the suggestion of argument for argument's sake alone...

i know. it still doesn't mean we've drafted well.

I think we may well have someone proficient in Will McClay but it won't help much if Jerry doesn't listen to him.
I was quite relieved to see he finally followed the advice of others when it came to not drafting Manziel.
If those same people can manage to hold Jerry under wraps, subsequent drafts could improve.
Jerry's failure to stay in line with the advice of his scouts has oftentimes been problematical.
His son, Stephen, has played a big role in convincing Jerry not to ignore his advisors.

If the team doesn't develop a player properly, then that is a worse indictment than simply drafting a bust. The biggest problem over the last few years is not getting value when trading up through the top 100.

Right. We draft poorly and have an issue developing whatever talent we do draft. We have more players still in the league in our most recent drafts because all teams do because they are most recent.

Go Cowboys.

Ya know the real recipe for success in this league?

Keeping your GM under wraps.

I disagree. It's worse to spend picks on players nobody can get to play.

We've drafted well the last few years. The Claiborne pick obviously was not a good one for us, though.

Unfortunately, in our case it is -- even better, it's being fortunate enough not to have a GM that you have to do that with.

So it's better to feed our competition players we failed to develop. How is that a good thing?

It's as simple as this...one builds his own directions, not cope with another's path. Or one's own metal is tested instead.

I don't think the Cowboys should be characterized as a very young kitten, trying to control every ounce of food in it's sight.
