because of having about 10 players miss action on Thursday, several others got extended game action. While some of them didn't play all that well, those extra reps are vital to the growth of those players. It gives the coaches some bonus film to break down, and use training camp to correct any technique or alignment issues. It gives the players a chance to learn how to self evaluate, break down film and apply it to the field.

Remember, we have a very young team outside of our OL. They need time to grow and mature. These 4 preseason games are perfect for that.

This is why I think the NFL should keep the 4 preseason games. There isn't enough time for coaches to really get valuable film and game action to evaluate their young players, and the preseason games allow them to do exactly that. The 18 game regular season and subtraction of 2 games in the preseason has nothing to do with the quality of the game, as Goodell would claim, and all about being greedy for more money.
