On the positive side:

Cudos to the entire offensive line, especially Doug Free, & Pat McQ. Free did a phenomenol job his first NFL game. McQ just seems to be getting better all the time. We had our starting OTs in street clothes, and the subs never missed a beat against the starting defense of the World Champion Indianapolis Colts.
Man, it was sweet to watch Free moving his feet, taking his man wherever he wanted to. Here's to praying Free makes as quick a recovery as his feet.

Whoever said Leonard Davis wasn't mean enough wasn't watching last night's game. Early in the Cowboy's first drive, Davis was blocking DE Josh Thomas when Thomas went enough to the head that he knocked Davis' helmet off. After the drive stalled, and Dallas kicked a field goal for the first 3 points of the game, Pat McQ was in the process of blocking Thomas. Davis turned in their direction, and gave Thomas a shot so hard, that not only Thomas, but also McQ's helmet, went flying from the inpact. WWWWHHHHEEEEEEWWWW!!! Ya gotta love that!!!
A little advice to Mr. Thomas: If you use an illegal tactic to knock the helmet off of a guy who has you by 80+ lbs., go over & at least pick it up for him......hehe.

On the negative side:

I love both Jason Witten & Anthony Fasano for their ability to get open & catch the pass when it gets there. No matter who's about to clobber them. However, as run blockers, they make great WRs. I counted at least 4-5 times that MBIII or JJ was hit behind the line because our TEs muffed a block. I hate that!!! I don't care who you are. When you play offense for the Dallas Cowboys, you block & block well!!

Blocking is all a state of mind, and these boys had better get it through their heads that they need to get mean on running plays. We will not go anywhere if they continue to block like they have. Man, each one of them has 20 pounds over Jay Novacek, & he was one of the best blocking TEs we ever had. Don't believe me? Take out one of your Super Bowl tapes & watch our boy Jay. He knew leverage & angles, and he used them to the best of his ability. There was one play during the second Buffalo win where he took out two players with one block. Witten and Fasano would do well to get out a tape or two themselves!

I still am bothered that Davis whiffed on two third down passing plays. It’s the same thing i saw at training camp. I think he played great against the run and did a good job on some other pass plays. But i’d like him to work on his hand work because it still seems to be an issue.
