Everyone who posts here and posted here last season knows I have been a T.O. fan since day one.

And I sure can't complain about the monster day he had yesterday, ... but I was a little disappointed at the effort he "didn't make" on Romo's desperation pass after the one snap over his head.

I thought Owens would catch that, but when he went up it seemed he tried to catch in the basket instead of going after it like a rebound in basketball, ... with his hands.

His elbows were bent and touching his jersey as he waited for the ball to come to him enabling Springs I think to get a hand on it and tip it away.

I think that if T.O. goes up as high as he can with his hands, like grabbing a rebound off the glass in basketball, that he could have caught that ball.

Romo should have thrown it out of bounds. THAT was an impulse play.

He has to let those go.

TO jumped to catch it the first time and it bounced off his hands. When it came back down, I think he was a bit flat footed.

Things happen really fast. Watching a slo-mo replay is not the same as experiencing it happening live. I have never seen a player go after a ball like TO, so I'm sure he wasn't half-assing it.

That's standard TO catch position. He doesn't extend his arms.

he did the same thing before swatting the hail mary out of bounds.

That was a TD if Romo could have corraled it sooner and thrown it farther. Imagine the legacy growth that would have generated, lol.

If he can put about 7 more yards on that ball it's a TD

Shouldn't the title be "On Romo's ONLY INT"

Yes, .. but first still works. :laugh2:

Actually it should read, On Romo's INT.

I think that is what I put but a mod inserted "first" to make me look bad. :D ;)

Sorry I get offended very easy ;)

I want to add something of significance now that I wasted a post but it has already been said...

If the pass had a little more behind it, TO was behind the secondary for a TD.

And on a side note, Gurode really needs to do something about the shotgun snaps.. I am sweating before EVERY shot gun snap from here on out.

One of the biggest problems I have with Owens is that he tends to wait on the ball too much and catches it with his body rather than with his hands (despite what Hurd said he has been learning from Owens).

If you watch closely, most of the passes he doesn't catch are because he doesn't reach out for them (obviously he reaches out when they are past him but not when the ball is coming towards him). It also explains why he tends to drop a lot of passes. Go back and look at each pass that was thrown his way that he didn't catch and you will see this nearly every time. His elbows are in and he is waiting for the ball to come to him.

Often, the DB will cut in front and either knock it away or pick it off. A number of Romo's INTs are due to Owens not using proper technique or shielding the DB away from the ball with his body

I think our receivers are very spoiled because Romo is so accurate that they just expect every pass to be right on the money. This is when I miss Terry Glenn the most as he is excellent at extending for passes and not waiting on them to come to him.

To me, it looked, even in live action, like it bounced off of TO's hands (Fingers) and then got bounced around for the INT...First look, and even on rewind, looked like Romo made a great play (Again).

Still, Aikman during the telecast said it looked like Springs got a finger or hand in there to make it bounce away from TO...Not sure if I buy that or not

TO does that alot... just NOT a fighter for the ball. last week vs NYG the INT he had snatched from him as his hands were around his pelvis waiting for the ball instead of going for it (poorly thrown but no effort).

the 6TDs in the two games makes up for it. TO is not the typicaly #1 HOF WR we've come to love with great hands who fights for the ball (ie. drew, michael).

Maybe we need to bring Albert Haynesworth in for a practice stomp to get his head right again. :bang2:

I have seen TO extend his arms plenty of times.... so real extension on some catches....

as you were....

It's a trend. I'm sure that somewhere, sometime, TO has extended his arms to make a catch.

A good amount of the time, however - he is more content to leave his biceps at his side and only move his forearms to make the catch.

I noticed that. If he reaches up he catches it I think. But, Gurode takes the blame on that play from me, Romo could have thrown it away but TO was open, he just didn't get set to throw at all.

exactly what I thought. Had he thrown that 2 yards farther its a td to owens, and the roof comes off the building.

Romo let it go over his head on purpose... he was trying to draw the defense to him :D

It is a play that has now been added to Garrett playbook
