First, let us look at the our draft picks guys, we have
# 1, from Cleveland, # 1 ours,
# 2 ours, # 3 ours,

what will it take to move up to about 3rd or 5th spot in first round to get McFadden, 3 # 1 picks, not 2 number ones guys but 3, so how do you get those 3 number one picks or extra number 2's & 3's, you make trades

then we alll have heard that the detroit lions are offering roy williams wr and shawn rogers for a # 2 pick each,

so if you are interested in roy williams wr in detroit, or shawn rogers, then maybe you trade bobby carpenter and marcus spears to them to get those or one of those guys in detroit

but i think this shopping spears and carpenter is another move to see how getting picks for them, then trading up to get McFadden, now i think thats a big big mistake, your talking about trading your 2 # 1 picks and bobbby carpenter and marcus spears to possibly do that, but i see jerry jones in this some where or maybe even wade phillips remember he did say he knew what he had to change and get to improve for this year,

to me, its a move to move up to get mcfadden first and foremost, now spears has more value than carpenter, but not awhole lot more

possibly you can involve them in a trade to miami to get first overall pick, and then take that pick, possibly trade down to 3rd pick in first round and recoup a pick or two, maybe even to the 4th pick, thats where everyone says that mcfadden will go to the radiers or the jets with the 6th pick

HOWEVER LET ME SAY THIS, i remember a rule that landry learned by letting a super pass rusher go in early 60's and he told parcells this and parcells said that Tom Landry said, give a player until his 3rd year to see if the light comes on, if it doesnt by preseason, then move on, but give him until his 3rd year.

so to me, we need to give carpenter until at least offseason conditioning, adn see if he works at getting stronger, and bigger, you got to remember caprenter tore his quad in his upper leg, and was suppose to have surgery, and the cowboys kept moviing him around, from inside to outside to back inside to back outside, a player cant get continiuty like that, he needs leaving at one position and then letting him play

thats just my thoughts, because if you do trade spears and carpenter, then your going to need players to replace them, the strenght of the 3-4 is the linebackers, and the NT and the strongside DE, which is spears,

We dont need McFadden. We have more important needs then a running back who cares more about bling then the endzone.

your scenarios of trading up to number 1 and then proceeding to trade that for more picks is simply ballin out of control.

DMac would be awesome

I question just how he will transfer to the pro level. The few times I saw him play he broke a few big ones, but also got jammed at the line a lot of the time.

As much as I like McFadden, we can't give away those # 1 picks to get him. Hell no!!!!!!!!!!! We've got to get young and fast at CB and WR. We can get a very good RB in the second round this year. Or we can get one with our second # 1 pick and take a WR in the second round.

RBs are a dime a dozen. We already have 1 good one. Why mortgage the future of this team to pick up a RB.

Look at the loss to NY. None of that had anything to do with RBs. 27 carries 129 yards from Barber.

So to all of you who think we should trade our draft to get McFadden, go back to playing Madden. Or think about the Herschel Walker deal.

Jacques Reeves was picked on all game, that should show you were a problem lies. And we could use some help at WR.

Darren McFadden RB Arkansas
STRENGTHS
Darren has the size, strength, speed and instincts to be one of the best RB’s at the next level to ever play. He shows great change of speed and burst. He has the strength and balance to run both inside and outside the tackles. He looks to be a tough kid who can play nicked up and take the pounding at the next level. Darren has the athletic ability to make the players around him better. It looks like he has good hands when catching the ball out of the backfield, and is an excellent special teams player. Darren is worthy of being a top five pick in this draft and has the potential to be one of the better backs to ever play at the NFL level.

NEEDS TO IMPROVE

Fumbles, fumbles, fumbles! He must learn to protect the ball better or he will be a bust at the next level. He must learn to pass block to stay on the field as an every down player. Darren also must learn how to set up his blocks. Right now, he just outruns everyone. He also must mature on the field and off the field to become the player his talents suggest that he can become. I have no doubt that he will do just that.

TALENT BOARD ROUND 1
Darren has to learn to refine his overall game to become the Pro Bowl player that I know he can become. It’s the little things -- like setting up blocks, picking up blitzes, NOT FUMBLING, not trying to do everything all by himself, learning that every play does not have to be a big play, etc. These are the normal issues that a very talented college football player has to learn to be successful at the next level. It’s simple: it comes down to on-the-field football maturity! While Darren learns these things, he can be a weapon and a match-up nightmare on special teams. If Darren is used in his first year like Reggie Bush or Cadillac Williams by their respective NFL teams, he will impact right away. But Darren has something that both of those two players lacked coming into the NFL. Darren has the strength and ability to be a force as a RB in-between the tackles as well as outside the tackles. This makes him special. This makes his long range upside potential even greater than both those two players when they came into the NFL. Darren can carry the load, but to do so, he must learn to stay healthy. He must learn when running through the tackles to burst through the hole and then, at the second level, to run inside/outside so that when he is tackled, his body motion is going with the tackle and not against the tackle. All the great backs learned this early in their careers. Look at film of Curtis Martin, Emmitt Smith, Thurman Thomas and others and you will see that unless they were in the red zone, they ran through the tackles to the second level and then inside/outside so that their bodies would not take the full punishment of a tackle. Darren has immature RB football skills. A smart team will realize this and draft him knowing that Darren can impact right away without touching the ball that much and give him a chance to develop into a complete back. If Darren is put on the field as an every down back right now, the team that drafts him will run a big risk in Darren becoming a bust. He will continue to fumble and he will get injured because of his running style. I have seen some film of the great Gayle Sayers (RB Chicago Bears); Darren looks like a bigger, stronger version of him. I love this kid’s talent and I would draft him in a New York minute if I had the first pick in this draft!

Actually, if he "fell" to the Raiders or the Pats, both notoriously cheap spending franchises, we could get their pick for less than draft value. The Raiders just spent #1 money on Russell last year, and they don't want to spend top 5 money in consequtive drafts. Also, the Pats are also reluctant to spend top money on an unproven player, when they have to pay their vets. Either of these teams will be desperately trying to trade down this year, that either will be willing to accept less than trade value to do so.

We have a Pro Bowl dominant RB in MB3,

So lets trade away multiple #1's for a RB with red flags,
in a draft that is very deep at RB.

No thanks!

Look to the Giants to see what investing in your secondary will do for you. If we can't stop the pass then what does it matter if we can run the ball.

We need CBs, safeties and Larry Fitzgerald.

End of discussion.

And a replacement for Flo Posderick and a punt returner along with a replacement for Chubby Checker Spears.:lmao2:

Secondary has nothing to do with it. Look at the giants secondary when we lost. They played a practice squad CB because rookie Ross got injured and we couldn't pass on them in the second half. this wasn't because of great coverage this was because of a good pass rush we couldn't stop (and of course our offense coordinator as always abandoned the run way to early).

second thing i don't get is: why do people on this board always come up with trading up ? i mean you can yell at Parcells and his style running plays on offense and defense but there is one thing he knows for sure and what we all can learn from him. this is how you build a good team. he did that with good drafts without bigger trades. and by signing good FAs to mid range contracts in the mids of their careers (all were about 25-26 years old.

his legacy is that we now have alot of talent and therefore alot of tradevalue on this team eg carpenter & spears. we have also one more round 1 pick and were already a SB contender this year. so why all this panicing right now ?

we don't need to trade up, there is much more value in 2 first round picks for us then in one higher one. we can find great players in round 3 also (see witten). we are a great team already we con now focus on getting better on positions we are already good. there is no need in putting ourselfs in any kind of pressure situation.
