we'll finally have some really great draft slots in every round next spring...unfortunately, it will probably be one of the worst drafts in recent years for offensive linemen, ILBs, and safeties.

Anyone who could get drafted in the first two rounds last year came out early knowing that there was a very high liklihood of a rookie pay scale this coming year.

We should be able to upgrade on the OL, but I'm betting you won't have 3-4 blue-chip tackles in the first half of the draft this year...should be some tough RBs though. :bang2:

Hopefully we can pick up a couple of FAs to help address Safety and ILB at least.

We may have to leave Free at LT and try to upgrade RT for the time being - unless Young is that guy.

I'd look for an OG in FA as well.

Basically, if we can get a Safety, LB, and at least 1 OL in FA who pan out, we're well on our way to improving this team. We then need to hit on a few draft picks.

I saw that Jerry has mentioned that he see making 47 trades down and drafting 128 special team stars for depth as this years goal.

From what we've seen, we may need 128 special teamers to find someone who can cover a kick.

I had a problem with Parcell's strategy of drafting special teamers in the draft, and I have a problem with Jerry continuing that practice.

Even if you don't want starters running down covering kicks (there are teams that put guys out there just like we used to put Woodson out there), I am of the mind that if you know the guy isn't good enough to contribute on defense, then why do you want him on special teams?

If you draft the best players every year, guys whom you hope will at least be #2s or #3s on the depth chart, then you still have guys who should be able to run and tackle on coverage units.

I am with ya...the whole draft for depth or draft for special teams just shows how weak of a GM we have. Its like a child playing with sharp things that never learns what hurts.

Best player available. You never reach for needs.

If that is a QB, then so be it, go ahead and draft him. If that is a RB, then so be it, go ahead and draft him.

Aint no bright side except Dez, Buehler and McBriar. I give honorable mention to Kitna. Everybody else has pissed me off.
