On the Bright Side

Next week's games are going to be a lot more fun to watch since we didn't clinch already.

Cowboys have a chance to clinch the division at home.

We could witness the Commanders season dying on Saturday.

We could witness the Eagles season dying on Sunday.

So in terms of making the games more fun next weekend, this past weekend's results weren't so bad.

I have had low expectations for this team anyway so this ride continues to be unexpected and fun.

The bright side to me is the three stupids we have at the top of the coaching tree are all but guaranteed to be gone if we don't win at least a divisional round play-off game.
I am 25% sure that will happen. I think winning the Division is still good enough for Jerrah.

I'm glad you're sure of that because I'm not. Short of losing the next 2 games I think at least Garrett returns.

The bright spot is the season isn't over and that over the last couple weeks there has been a lot of teams that have also shown cracks and have concerns. The game was certainly concerning, but if anything, this team has shown to be pretty resilient and able to move past mistakes and bounce back. A lot of teams have shown that they're not unbeatable over the last couple weeks and we still have an opportunity to make a deep run. I see a lot of people spreading doom and gloom, freaking out and panicking. Throw in some adversity and they start acting like fainting goats.

On the dim side, Garrett and Dak may be around a long time. Jerry already made up his mind.

I've never seen him so angry before over a 3-5 start, not to mention he seems deeply enamored with Lincoln Riley. Oh and I'm not as sold on Richard as some of you are but I believe it will take the DC spot, possibly DC/assistant HC spot to keep him.

Commanders. No shot. Eagles look like a different team with Foles at QB. I am glad Dallas didn't face them with Foles back there.

That is your bright side talking. Your bright side and others' bright sides are saying the same thing. The problem (and it is an ignored three decade long and counting problem) is that the bright side you share with others speaks in American English and Jerry Jones' bright side talks fluent Mandarin Chinese--along with a few ums and ahs.

Presently, nothing suggests to me, thinking I 'know' Jones, that Garrett's job is not secure. We will all see though.

Yep we all would’ve loved to clinch.

@Staubacher makes a great and true point. Now the games next week will be that much more exciting. It’s very close to a playoff game.

We all know we haven’t had enough of these big games in the last 20 years. So I’ll enjoy it.:starspin:

Yep. Take the same medicine the Saints swallowed a couple of weeks ago. Turn the page on an embarrassing loss.

Garrett is the only guy untouchable in this organization to Jerry, considering family ties. If one pays attention to his words, Jerry’s take is that one wins based on the coordinators. 2016 and Garrett being ‘coach of the year’, Romo’s 2014 season with Linehan with Jerry gushing all summer long about this new relationship, are examples he always invoked.

This is in part him protecting Garrett. Jerry will change coordinators again, before firing Garrett.

Richard has made a difference. I am not 100% sold on him yet, but he has made a difference. One can't deny that.
I do believe rod retires, and Richard is offered the DC position, but yes, he will also need the AHC title too. And a big paycheck to keep him from going somewhere as a HC.

But I heard a few pundits say yesterday, teams that are looking for a HC may look to an offensive minded coach.
GB it revolves around Rodgers
Cleveland it will revolve around Mayfield.

Not sure if other teams will be looking for HC's or not, as many are in their 1 or 2nd or 3rd years. Not that it means a lot though.

I doubt Bengals fire Lewis and they too may look for an offensive minded coach.

@Reality (umbrella) check ... :D

Richards has definitely earned a shot at DC IMO. Remember when like 90% of this roster thought we were doomed to failure if we didn’t leverage our draft for Earl Thomas?

The bright side is we have one thing to fix and we have a chance to be good in the playoffs
We play solid defense
We move the ball well on offense
We struggle in the red zone
Fix the red zone and we are in good shape

Nah.

I would have been perfectly content with having a couple of boring weekends, while waiting for the guaranteed home playoff game to start.

But now needing to win to clinch and the eagles having a shot to still make the playoffs? Barf.
