On this day I was at my Uncles house and refused to leave as they were planning on going shopping. He kept telling me lets go the game is over with. I told him as long as Roger is in the game nothing is over. lol 2 Big plays later Cowboys won.

I was out on a deer lease hunting with my dad. It was more of I liked being with my dad than wanting to shoot a beautiful deer. I was listening to the game on the radio and everyone else was asleep. I yelled when Staubach threw the touchdown and everyone in the tent jumped up yelling What, What!!!! Kind of funny. I was only 14 at the time. :laugh:Still haven't shot a deer to this day.....nor would I.

Same here...Not the trip and the game part...the hunting deer thing. My brother once came and got me to help him track a deer he knew he'd shot, but it took off deep into the woods, so once he found it he wanted help dragging it out. I said sure, as long as I didn't have to watch him shoot it. Of course, as the trail as tarted getting easier to read, it suddenly jumped up out of the bushes, and he shot it again. At least I had the solace of knowing that shot put it out of its misery, because the first one had nicked its spine.

Was watching at home with my dad and brothers.
My brother said if he had a son, he was going to name him Drew, this was about 5 years after that play when he said that.
He ended up with 3 daughters. But as they grew up, had boys, he could not talk them into naming any of them Drew.

He should have just named one of the girls Drew.

I was 15 at the time and I remember it like it was yesterday. My dad worked for a major airline at that time and was based at the brand-new DFW airport. He had access to the gate that the Cowboys used and btw, the Cowboys flew on his airline. We all drove to DFW airport, late at night and greeted the players when they exited the gate into the terminal. There were probably 75 fans there waiting for the team. Great memory!

That orange being thrown on the field still makes me laugh.
The Cowboys had to convert a 4th and 17 on that same drive.
Two plays before the game ended,a fan in the end zone seats threw a whiskey bottle on the field and hit a referee in the head.
The Vikings medical staff attended to him until the paramedics arrived.

The ref unfortunately died.
They never found the perpetrator.

47 years ago...Wow! I watched it live on the new TV my family got for Christmas. I got to stay home from church that morning because I was sick. Felt 100% better when Drew caught that pass.
My parents a few years earlier had bought one of those mini black & white TVs - for me and my two brothers to watch in our large bedroom (large -- because it originally was a garage when the house was built).
It was about the size of a 0.9 to 1.1 cubic foot microwave ovens.

To be honest - I thought Drew Pearson might be called for pushing off;

And...why did a Vikings fan bring an orange - or oranges - to a football game in late December?

Plus - one of the officials was knocked unconscious by a whiskey bottle thrown at the field.

So many Cowboys and Vikings Greats \NFL Hall of Famers played in that game---
Tarkenton, Foreman, Yary, Tingehoff, Eller, Page, Krause
Neely, Newhouse, Nye, Wright, Jordan, Renfro, White
