Going to be interesting to see how we handle free agency. We don't have a lot of draft picks this year so there's a good chance what you see from this team is what you get and they'll just count on improvements from their own guys. I'd love to see them bring in a plus FA like a Thomas or a DT but I suspect they will focus cap space on guys like Lawrence and Cooper.

The Giants will again be in search of a QB. Plus they have some interesting free agent decisions such as Collins. Nick Foles? See below.

Eagles have little cap space so they will have to improve through the draft. They have 3 picks before we even make our first pick in this draft and they might also end up with a 2nd 3rd rounder if the rumors of them tagging Foles and then trading him for a 3rd rounder are accurate.

The Skins? They have some pieces on defense. I like their front seven a lot but they also have a QB issue.

There's no reason this team can't repeat as a divisional winner. But as we know, this franchise has always taken the roller coaster approach to success.

What are you talking about. Foles is under contract for 2019 with a cap hit of $21.6 million. No way they can franchise tag him.

Cowboys!

2019 is an option year for Foles. The Eagles will (or have) pick up his option for $20MM but then Foles has the chance to opt out by paying the Eagles $2MM. Most expect him to pay the $2MM and opt out.

Foles then will either get tagged for $25MM or he'll get to walk in FA.

Don't confuse cap hit with what Foles will actually make. He will only make $20MM in 2019. He opts out by paying the Eagles $2MM and then either gets tagged at $25MM, putting $3MM more into his pocket by playing under the tag somewhere or he signs a long term deal with oodles of guaranteed money.

I would have felt much better going into next season had we not anointed Kellen Moore.

If we sit out free agency again, I full expect a mediocre team next year.

I've heard the Eagles are picking up his option, then are going to trade him.

They will not trade him within the NFC East. More likely an AFC team.

Eagles just dont have the cap space for the 25 million tag. They cant even keep him at 21 million.

They're currently 18 million over the cap.

And a long list of free agents needing to be resigned:
Brandon Graham
Golden Tate
Haloti Ngata
Darren Sproles
Ronald Darby
Jordan Hicks
Jay Ajayi

Assuming they stay out of the big name FAs, there are definitely some mid-tier names that would help us greatly IMO:

Cook (TE)
Harris (TE)
James (TE)
Williams (DT)
Shelton (DT)

Some safeties that might interest us beyond Thomas like Nelson.

They will have the space. They just restructured McLeod who saved them like $7.5MM and they have some cuts coming such as Peters, etc.

Factoring in McLeod's restructure, they are not like $11MM over the cap. Cutting Peters gets them to like $3MM under the cap.

Read the reports, they already appear to have picked up the $20MM option and it's being reported they will likely tag him. I think they have a decent idea that they can move him and not then have his cap hit on their books for the 2019 season.

They have the following players hitting free agency:
BrandonGraham
Golden Tate
Haloti Ngata
Darren Sproles
Ronald Darby
Jordan Hicks
Jay Ajayi

If they want to hang on to Foles for a 3rd round pick and risk losing all those players, then they are fools.

I hope you're right, but doubt it.

It's really not that foolish because they will likely trade him immediately, so it's not like they will be carrying the cap hit for months.

They cant bring all those guys back anyway, even if they just let Foles walk right now. Ngata is probably gone. Hicks is probably gone. Ajayi is definitely gone. Graham is probably gone (or they bring him back and cut Bennett).

They have cap constraints for sure which is why I think they are trying for as many high picks as they can get. If they get a third for Foles, that gives them 5 picks in the Top 90 in the draft.

If the Cowboys can repeat, they will be the first to do that in 14 seasons. We are a long ways off from the annual reveal of the disappointing and surprising teams of 2019. That is the only predictable in the NFL. Don't know which teams they are yet but it's guaranteed it's coming.

Look for the Jags to make a play at Foles.

There's been talk of some sort of Fournette involved deal. Eagles get Fournette and the Jags #1, Jags get Foles and like a third round pick or something like that.

The eagles would do better keeping Foles and trading Wince while some still believe he's a real NFL caliber QB.

This team needs to have some substantive activity in free agency, a player like ET would be helpful!

We all know doing crazy contracts on a regular basis especially in the first tier in free agency is stupid but being short with no first round (and assuming we do no trade up hopefully) selection, selectively and wisely spending in free agency on upgrades could prove fruitful this year.

Do this along with drafting well, including adding some college undrafted players combined with further player development would be a better way to go!

Yes, signing your own productive players is wise especially if they are impact players but we need to also be discerning even with respect to those contracts through proper evaluation.

Time will tell if they follow the same pattern that keeps coming up short in the end.

I'd quite like for the Giants or Skins to be the one to trade for Foles. If the Eagles are going to land a draft pick from somebody, might as well have it be one of our division foes getting their pocket picked.

I'm not sure how high a pick they can actually get.

He's already 30 years old, he's basically only had 1.5 or 2 good seasons, and with the leverage he'll have already having a franchise tag applied (which quickly escalates year to year), it means he can more or less veto destinations he doesn't like by threatening to make life difficult.
