The Browns didn't get a 1st round pick last draft. They didn't get a 4th round pick either.

Their 2nd round pick DT Michael Hall, has been placed on the commissioners exempt list because he is expected to be suspended for domestic abuse. He will not play against the Cowboys.

Meanwhile, QB Deshawn Watson is experiencing soreness in his arm. His shoulder on that side was surgically repaired.

The Cleveland Browns just activated their two veteran starting OT's, Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills from their injury list. Both sustained ligament damage during the 2023 season. Wills had been out since the 8th game and Conklin went out in the first week. Both were the starters from 2020 to 2022. The Cowboys game will be their first action and their next practice will be the first since their injuries.

Not only is Chubb out for the Cowboys game, just about every other Browns RB is on the injury list. Ford is the only exception. Pierre Strong and D'Onta Foreman are questionable.

Two valuable Browns players are also dealing with injury issues. CB Greg Newsome II was just activated. David Njoku returned to practice after an undisclosed injury and is still listed as questionable.

So we are so confident in our team that we are hoping the Browns woes help us win the game.
Yep championship attitude who knows maybe the Brown players will all get food poisoning before the night of the game????
I will be surprised if our offense scores more than 20 points in this one.

Browns are a Super Bowl contender when they are healthy. This maybe the toughest team with play in the first 6 weeks. I know the media hates Watson but they have one of the best offensive lines when healthy in the NFL. They had the best defense in the league last season and we all know how dangerous Amari can be. Glad we get them early before it gets cold in Cleveland.

Appreciate your pre-game reconnoissance, PlasticMan! But there's also this:
  • Last year the Browns beat both the 49ers and the Ravens, whom are class of the league
  • However you logically gauge it Browns had a top-5 defense in 2023
  • Their offensive line is highly regarded
  • The majority of the "previously injured" Browns you mention will be primed and ready
  • We are headed to the DOG POUND
Do wish we could wait til game week to discuss this, but I understand the eagerness. We'll have plenty of time to discuss the matchup.

As always, it seems that the Browns are undergoing costly accidents that they have a knack for being subject to. (As if I really care.) :omg:
Actually, the Dallas Cowboys are inclined to suffer the slings and arrows of such unfortunate events, too. We share that in common!!

Good post......but I have heard too many coaches admit no game scares them as much as the first one of the season. As they put it.......as a coach, you have done the best you could to prepare and know what needs to be done but have no idea if it is all going to come together coz the first live action. In other words, the first game can be unpredictable.

The Browns went 11-6 last year. This game is in Celevand. The last 15 times where the Dallas Cowboys played an 11+ win team in an open air stadium (regular season + playoffs) when they played their starters, Dallas is 0-15

2023 Miami 20-22

2023 Buffalo 10-31

2023 Philadelphia 23-28

2023 San Francisco 10-42

2022 Philadelphia 17-26

2022 Jacksonville 34-40

2022 San Francisco 12-19 (playoff game)

2021 Tampa Bay 29-31

2021 Kansas City 9-19

2021 San Francisco 17-23

2020 Seattle 31-38

2020 Baltimore 17-34

2018 Rams 22-30 (playoff game)

2016 Giants 7-10

2016 Green Bay 31-34 (playoff game)

They either deliver a blow to make it harder for Cleveland to hit 11 wins, or bring it to 16 straight

Initially I had the Browns but their injuries are mounting. And if Watson is ailing too that shifts it more to Cowboys .

The Browns have a top five off line which worries me as well several of our rookie Off linemen against Miles Garrett and company.

Win or lose, my prediction is we won't be able to stop the run.

Not an ideal first opponent playing the best defense in the league last year on their home field.......but as we proved last year, home field doesn't really matter.

It is impossible to predict this game because nobody knows what Watson is going to be. They're dangerous if he's near his peak, but there's little to suggest that he is, especially coming off a shoulder injury.
