RE Gregory: "His options are still to be possibly exercised," Jones noted.

You know how it seems Jerry allows the league to push him around in various ways? Why would he allow that??

We all know $$$ talks, and Jerry could bully the NFL a bunch if he wasn't worried of potential reprisal; why else do you think Jerry never makes waves against the NFL's rulings against the team?? It’s obviously because he wants confirmation of his HOF acceptance first - then afterwards, he'll have nothing to lose, and he won't need the league for a GD thing..

Specifically in the Gregory matter, if Gregory's missed test was in anyway related to any rehab situation due to drug addiction, then Jerry & Co. need to unleash their lawyers upon the federal courts upon ANY feasible basis to hold up the process and stay the decision, in order to allow Gregory to play in these playoffs.

Decisions like this in the future will all swing our way if Jerry's in the Halll; it'll be great!

Right now, it seems like Jerry's making waves despite the fact he hasn't yet been accepted to the Hall; he's probably in Daddy mode...

Once he's in, he'll progably be pushing the rest of the league around ,just like they were little sissy girls. Hell, Jerry'll probably be spanking Mara's bare *** before his acceptance speech...

Assuming my premise is true, the ^ will be great....

Once he's in, I seriously doubt he'll be taking any more of Roger or Mara's **** anymore...

Jerry is a measured man, that carries a ton of grief in his own heart. I don't think he will compromise his own sense of integrity, for any arbitrary goal. He knows why he does things, and the rewards that he himself desires. I respect the man, completely. Some traits are different than my own, but we are simply different people.

I hope he also expands a little accountability into the NFL, if they are serious about exporting the product, and not just cash flows.

I think Jerry doesn't give a rats arse about the HOF as opposed to winning a SB. Jerry's ego may have led to some rash choices, but selfishness is not an issue.
He will will HOF for SB's hands down every time.

I get people pulling for Gregory to succeed, but given his history, why do so many people believe this story about Gregory missing a test because he was in rehab? If Gregory or his agent confirm, then fine, but right now it seems more rumor than anything

One might take this comment to the OP thread that applies to this topic...

For the record, I applaud Jerry for giving a vote of confidence to Jason Garrett...

On the subject of Garrett’s tenure, this was an interesting tidbit from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The tumultuous nature of being an NFL coach is best captured by the head coaches hired from 2009 through 2013, a five-year stretch not that long ago.

During that time, the league hired 31 head coaches, and of them, only six remain: Seattle's Pete Carroll, Dallas' Jason Garrett, Carolina's Ron Rivera, Indianapolis' Chuck Pagano, Kansas City's Andy Reid and Arizona's Bruce Arians.

Twenty-five others already have been fired, which just goes to show most coaches are just being hired to one day be fired.

:hammer:

exactly, JJ is on his best behavior and not making big waves with that milestone in clear site. Besides and based on his recent comments concerning the Gregory situation, he's positioning as "Gregory's" options, not the team/Cowboys. I imagine he will assist Randy exhaust all his options but JJ and the Cowboys will be behind the scenes on this going forward.

Gregory's suspension is between him, his lawyers, the NFLPA and the league. Not sure Jerry and the DC really have any standing to do much. They aren't really the aggrieved party....

Pagano Is lucky to have a job still, Rivera and Arians seat are probably warm, AZ better find a qb fast..Garrett probably outlasts all those.

In the 1980's, Al Davis sued the National Football League and sided with an upstart competing league, the USFL.

Davis was inducted into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame in 1992.

I'm a bit skeptical of the thread premise.

Al Davis was once one of the most astute and knowledgeable person in the NFL.

Maybe. I think Jerry is more concerned about hosting more Super Bowls.

Romo to AZ for 2 first round picks...;)

On a side note, did anyone know that John Wetzel made 8 starts for AZ this season at LT ? The Cowboys released him from their practice squad last season.

Bottom line is that Jerry is part of the NFL. What is good for the NFL is good for Jerry. By that tame token, what is bad for the NFL is bad for Jerry.

He doesn't stir up problems against the league because it would only hurt the league... which he is a part of.
