Once Sanchez gets in Sunday, should we use this game to assess OL options?

Was prompted by the Break discussion to think about this. The "should we get Romo some real-game reps" question dominates of course, but in getting ready for the playoffs, is it also a valid question--given that you only have 7 OL on the roster--to see Free back at LT and/or to see Martin at RT for some snaps and/or to see Frederick move over to RG for some snaps? We're being told there is a lot more concern with Cleary than with Looney. So, how much consensus is here for playing some musical chairs with the O-line on Sunday, if any?

No...
Cleary plays for Smith, and gets some valuable reps...as to if he stays as the swing tackle next year, competing with Green.
If anything else is done, Looney to spell Martin or Leary. Once Sanchez enters the game then put Looney at C to get some reps there as he is also the back up C.

Cleary did a good job in limited time. Give him the reps, have to get Collins on the 53 so we have backups. Bring Collins off IR this week.

I dont recall Cleary playing badly but I also remember the Cowboys pretty much ignoring running the ball to his side

Definitely no on Free at LT. That was a disaster when he played there in the past.

With a definite NO for Free at LT, then there is no reason for Martin at RT.

The Fred to Guard, Looney to Center sounds like some Broaddus nonsense claiming that Looney can't play OG.

I would consider activating Collins and having him play his college position of LT. Even with zero practice reps at LT, he would be better that Doug Free.

Martin also played LT in college. If they don't activate Collins and don't sign another OT, then they could just have Martin take snaps at LT. He would be better there than Free.

They gave him help on passing downs, often lining up a TE next to him. I need to review, but it seemed obvious that they were trying to avoid putting him into difficult situations.

So, we're less enthusiastic on the O-line than on the D-line about this whole notion of "position flex"... ? (Just throwin that out there.)

A related but not exact question posed at conclusion of today's presser: Would you be reluctant at this stage of the season to move guys on the O-line around? (Mind you, the question here is more specifically "do you take this opportunity to prepare for that possibility in case you'd want to do that later?") Unsurprisingly, Garrett indicated a preference for simply substituting one player for another, but acknowledged that moving guys around is something they could consider doing if dissatisfied with the simple solution. I take that maybe to mean, where it concerns the question I've posed, "We're more interested in just seeing the subs get some snaps first."

Cleary is listed as a guard so I assume this is where he previously played? He did ok considering. However we need some options at LT. I'd give 2 players 2 quarters each in the position. Collins needs to be back on the roster otherwise we need to sign a swing tackle. Best option this time of year is a vet who retired last off season who's in shape and tempted by the prospect of a ring.

He is listed as T on the Cowboys roster.
