One Benefit of Orton Starting

I think we will see the best effort from every other player on defense and offense. The other players know they have to bring their A game and play to their best ability and focus. They know Romo is not there to bail them out. It is all on 'their' shoulders and not Romo's. I believe Orton will play decent. He will throw it up and let Dez et al. make a play. The OL knows they have to establish the run and control the clock. We shall see what the other players are made of. Times like this are when the true vets lead and future young leaders are borne.

Whether it is enough or not. That will be the question.

If they, for some reason, don't give their best effort and just ride out the "Romo is hurt' excuse, then this team has a bunch of losers who have already given up and we will never win anything with them.

Or they could lay down like they did when Brad Johnson came in 2008, getting beat by the Rams by double digits, and then the Giants 35-14 :-\

Was it Bruce Bollinger or something who came in the third quarter?

Or they could play the way the did vs the Giants in 2010 when Romo went down. Only 2 players that gave it their all in that game were Dez and Kitna.. and we still almost came back and won.

Young talent would play hard irrespective.. exerienced players are like, "oh hell.." Hatcher gonna be like, "I ain't on this train wreck next year... gotta save it for next year"

Sometimes that's possible, but I don't necessarily think this team will do that. They've folded when the chips were down against both NO and Chicago, especially defensively, and if things start going poorly for Orton, the game could get out of hand in a hurry.

For the most part, I think this team plays pretty hard, but its difficult to imagine them doing that if Orton can't make any plays.

The defensive players need to have an internal meeting and find a way to step up.

If Romo does play, he will be limited in his mobility and may also affect his throwing velocity. If that's the case he's limited to where Orton's physical abilities stand, but Orton can make the hard throws. The advantage of having Romo this weekend despite his injury, is his will to fight and make plays through adrenaline.

Brad Johnson did not play well in 2008. He looked adequate in preseason, but when his number was called to start he just had nothing left, IMO. I don't think we'll see anything like that from Orton.

Oh, that was Brooks Bollinger.

I hope they show some guts at least. We need to come out of the gates hot. If we get down 14-0 to start the game, this team will QUIT!

We will see if this team has any heart whatsoever without their captain romo.

If the Cowboys are not getting the players best effort EVERY game despite who is the QB, the problems run deeper than anyone ever imagined in this team.
