Try and create a Draft for the Cowboys using just one NCAA Conference. You can flex a little bit, but don't get ridiculous. For example if you choose the Big 12, don't have Suh going to the Cowboys. But if a player is listed as a top 25 player you can assume he falls 2 spots. That gives you a little latitude.
Even if a Conference has been done, go ahead and do it again. I'm a Pac-10 homer, so I am choosing the Pac-10.
I am ashamed to say I did not get one of my Wildcats in this Mock and took a Sun Devil.
1. Charles Brown, OT, USC, 6'5", 295. A former TE who moved to Tackle much like Rayfield Wright. Strong hands and good feet under him so he won't get wrong footed a lot. Plays in a pro style offense. Like most college athletes he will need to get stronger at the Pro level but he has time to do that.
2. Taylor Mays, S, USC, 6'3", 235. Last year, he would have been top 10. A bad year has pushed him out of round 1 on a lot of Draft boards. As physically gifted a player as you are likely to see, but does struggle in coverage a little. He's young and that can be learned. An enforcer.
3. Tyson Alualu, DE, California, 6'5", 290. Played in Cal's 3-4 scheme and is a solid contributor with great natural size. The Cowboys have 3 DEs who have Free Agent tags on them so the need to fill a spot is quite likely. Can be groomed to being a starter in a couple of years. Has good power and comes off the edge well.
4. Alterraun Verner, CB, UCLA, 5'11", 190. Has a great nose for the football. His Senior year teams quit throwing at him as much because as a Sophomore and Junior he broke up 33 passes. So he simply started taking the ball away more as a Senior, notching 5 picks and 4 pass break ups. That usually indicates closing on the ball instincts are becoming natural for him.
6. Kenny Alfred, C, Washington State, 6'2", 305. He can play any spot in the interior line. Has a nasty streak at times but usually plays within himself. Decent footwork and is not afraid to work on improvement.
7. Kyle Williams, WR, Arizona State, 5"10", 185. Is more likely a KR/PR in the NFL than a starting WR, but he can contribute int he passing game as well. Has very good top end speed. Should run the 40 in around 4.4. He was the Sun Devil's leading WR with 57 receptions and 8 scores.
