Haslett is out with St. Louis Rams
By Jim Thomas
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Jim Haslett has been informed he will not be the Rams’ head coach in 2009.
He received a call Thursday afternoon from owner Chip Rosenbloom and general manager Billy Devaney.
Haslett declined comment.
There were also indications that the Rams might be making additional “cuts” in their coaching field as they zero in on their next head coach.

------------------------------------------------------------

I know it's speculation but I find it interesting that they did this one day after they interviewed Jason Garrett. Maybe the RAMS are preparing to hire him?

I read on another board that PFT was saying Frazier would get the job. So RJ might not be the guy.

1 bad season as a coordinator doesnt mean he will never be a good coach. I hope we dont regret it if he leaves

FRAZIER THE FAVORITE IN ST. LOUIS?

Now that Jim Haslett is out of the picture to become the non-interim coach of the Rams, the leading candidate to get the job is believed to be Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.
Per Adam Schefter of NFLN, the Rams are expected to announce their decision by Saturday, and the guy currently expected to get the job is Frazier.
Frazier would be the second Vikings defensive coordinator in three seasons to become a head coach. In 2007, Mike Tomlin left after one season to become the head coach of the Steelers.
And most Vikings fans would prefer either Tomlin or Frazier to the team’s current head coach.

:hammer:

If he leaves, we will regret it. Everybody jumps to conclusions way too fast on this board. First year we have the #2 offense and JG is the best OC in the world. The next year, he has a down year (our offense ended what? 9th, 10th?) and he is the worst OC in the world.

Then let him learn on someone else's dime and time.
I don't mind that Jerry hired him, but that he hired him as Asst. HC and OC.

I never saw the qualification (singular) of being all of the QB coach in Miami for two whole years as justification for such an important role in Dallas. BTW, name for me the QB in Miami under Garrett's tenure?

I NEVER "got" this hire, outside of the usual; that he'd be a classic "yes man" to Jerry. I believe he got the job he's got based ENTIRELY on "Thanks for the job Jerry, I'll do whatever you say". Because I don't recall anyone else going after him to be an OC/HC, and I don't recall anything about him until Jerry hired him. I didn't even know he was the QB coach in Miami. It wouldn't have surprised me to here that he was Danny Whites OC in the Arena League, for all I knew.

This team has too much talent, and is primed RIGHT NOW to win a couple Trophy's. RIGHT NOW. I would even say that NOT winning a SB Trophy the last two years is enough to be dissappointed about. That's "lofty goals", but the bodys and talent are there and HAVE BEEN THERE the last two years.

We don't need to be experimenting and wishing and hoping and praying that Garrett is the "real deal". Because that's what Jerry's been doing with him the last two seasons. We need a proven HC and OC with nuggets to shape this team up. Garrett is "learning on the job" in Dallas.

This is not the right time, with the talent, new stadium, expectations, Romo, etc...............this is NOT the time to allow some kid to "show what he can do". But, THAT'S what your current Asst. HC/OC IS!!!!!! He's a work in progress, with no guarantee that he's the "real deal".

I want any detractors to THIS POST to provide evidence, proof, stats and facts to support ANY OTHER OPINION.

Garrett is an "experiment", and only has this job because he's the poster boy for "yes Jerry"!!

Lets play "Who said this"

Garrett aint going nowheres

Garrett

Payton never really struck me as anything special, I like what we have in Garrett though

Garrett likes to pass to set up the run

he's from the '90's Cowboy's offense
retaining Garrett wasn't a knee-jerk reaction, my friend, 2 struggling teams wanted him to be their identity as HC
I agree, running an O is entirely different from running a team

but Garrett is a bright guy who can make everyone buy into what he's selling
Wade will be the coach till his contract expires, and then Garrett will take over
Garrett is also a really smart guy, brilliant according to Aikman, that I think he would weigh the pros and cons of waiting it out to take over as HC here, and see that the pros of staying here very much outweigh the pros of taking over for a fledgling franchise
