Yes, the win was huge...

But more importantly, this will give Parcells a sense of confidence that we don't have to go max protect on every pass play....

Bledsoe did a very nice job of buying a little extra time with a step or two in the pocket...better than I've ever seen from him.

The tackles did enough to give the passing game some time...and did a fairly nice job in the running game.

The play calling, with the exception of 97 runs in a row on second down, was creative enough to keep KC on their heels...

I am hopeful this game will turn a little light on for the coaching staff with the result being a less conservative game plan.

We'll know next week vs the Commanders because that's the kind of team Parcells would typically play a ball control, time of possession game.

Nice post, but.... we did two wides on alot of routes today.

I agree they opened up the offense today. I think it made our two youngins grow up today. No they weren't playing an all-pro DE or a stud up and comer, but they had to hold their own...

I'm pretty proud of our guys, once they got out of their own way.

Now that D on the other hand... Man, they got their butts handed to 'em today. Gotta luv'em but I imagine BP is gonna chew on them all week.

I don't remember the last time I've seen so much arm tackling...plus the pass rush was, once again, anemic...

With regard to the offense, I think at some point ya gotta do what we did today...let them know there's no safety net...in fact, babying them by always having help could in fact be counter productive.

They responded today...that was big.

And Bledsoe was great...he actually had some pocket movement..

30th ranked pass defense. Parcells is hung up on stats. I won't be so sure he won't go back to conservative.

The Washington game will be a great test...I'm am pretty sure he'll pull in the reigns...but I am truly hoping he doesn't game plan like he did vs the Giants...

The line did just enough to keep the Chiefs honest...that's all we needed.

Well juke......just heard Drew Pearson say that Parcells told the OT they needed to grow up and play.......He was not going to give them as much help this week.

well, honestly....Parcells became an "enabler"...it's human nature to not give your best effort if you know you have someone covering for ya...

Hopefully, lesson learned....

... it would be that we have to incorporate more short passes in our offence. Even knowing how poor a short passer Drew is.

Also, our season avg. for rushing plays is 3.3 YPcarry. Given that, when you need five yards for the first down we have to have more high percentage plays in the playbook.

Our passing offence may be a bit too predictable when considering down and distance and we need to come up with some variations to combat that weakness.

Barber on more screens would be nice. The odd curl pattern by Witten would help also. Take the four yards and move the chains.

I feel we take too many plays with no or negative yardage. It would be nice to see a play made with the chains moving on a regular basis, even if it only a few yards.

If someone would have told me that LJ would run for 140, Green would throw for over 300, and Allen would get 3 sacks, I wiould have assumed a loss. Way to play the shoot out and let the tackles play.

The max protect scheme was killing us.

...keep Drew on his feet up to week 14. It is what it is, and now there are only two games left.

The coach has to decide if he is intending to play shoot outs or manage a tight game.

Notice that Cundiff didn't play a part in this game other than one easy FG and a possible TD saving pylon play that allowed Roy to tackle Hall.

Pearson also said at the beginning of his show that he feels the Cowboys have been too conservative on offense as well, and that today shows again that the Cowboys offense plays better when they start opening it up.

I think it's a fine line ya walk when making this decision. How many turnovers and good field position are you going to give the other team if you try to "open it up?" Against KC, it doesn't matter because they have a bonafide top 5 offense in this league. Our defense isn't going to do jack. But against some of the team who have weak offenses but strong defenses, it probably makes more sense to leave it in the hands of our defense. I know it's a frustrating game to watch and doesn't make for compelling TV action, but it's probably the smarter thing to do if you're playing the odds.

I think technically the lesson was learned last week against the Giants when Parcells kept everyone but Rowdy in pass protection and still couldn't help Bledsoe.

BUt I agree with you, hopefully this is a sign that the new offensive game plan is trust the Tackles and pray. A lot. :pray2:

...and I'm not suggesting we employ a run and shoot offense...just shake things up enough to keep the defense honest...and just enough to make the defense cover more of the field...that'll be the best pass protection Bledsoe can have.
