I don't know about the rest of you NASCAR fans, but that was one great finish to a hard run race.

Not a NASCAR fan but I do watch the Daytona 500 every year.

Feel real bad for Martin though. Seems like he kind of got screwed.

Every other time there is a wreck they call a caution right then but now they let them keep racing.

I agree that didn't make sense. I was really hoping Mark Martin would win.

Yep, Martin got the screw big time. Three years ago the same thing happened at Talladega with Gordon and Junior. They froze the field while Gordon was leading even though Junior won the race back to the line- NASCAR is pathetically inconsistent in their calls. They make the NFL refs looks like King Solomon in their judiciousness.

I would assume that was after they changed the rules to freeze the field instead of racing back to the line. I remember that race but not if the new rule was in effect.

Yep, it was after the rule change. The fans showered the track with garbage- I thought they were going to riot- maybe that's why they let that one go yesterday, though I would think a Martin win would be much more popular with the fans than that jerk Earnhardt wannabe Harvick. NASCAR just does what they feel like at that particular moment- the problem is none of their drunk officials know the rules so they just run with it. The NASCAR rule book is about as official as the WWE rule book.

Incredibly boring race save the last few laps.

I watched the DirectTV speed pass channels. They were terrific and the only reason I stayed awake. They split screened the commercials so we didn't miss any of the action like crashes and pit stops and each channel had its own announcing team plus all the team communications. They switched to other cars when that channel's driver went out of the race like from Stewart to Hamlin.

Watching Jeff Gordon trying to clean oil off his windshield from inside his car during the red flag and listening to the conversations amongst the team members during it was priceless.

It was different also because the network feed that was always split screened was a tick ahead of the network station so we also heard a few comments that were "off the air" moments from the normal broadcast team coming out of commercial breaks. (network audio was on during all commercials).

It was a really interesting way to watch a race and I may get a little interest in Nascar because of it.
