One man's opinion on how NFL grows from here (and it's NOT expansion)

Not necessary to expand once you get to 32, and in fact, only creates some new obstacles since the next number that would avoid those obstacles is 36. And what purpose would be served anyway? Most NFL significant revenue that is out there isn't in the US, but in the largest cities of western Europe and Central/South America. At this point, people who would be fans in, say, Austin TX... or Portland OR... or Boise ID... are already fans anyhow. You're mainly just redistributing the pie to add teams here.

Rather, the NFL's already seeding those places internationally that would show promise, with the next big leap being establishing for every season that every team plays one game internationally. Let that take root, and maybe in x-number of years you can actually begin thinking beyond that.

And rather, the NFL's next big project seems smartest to focus on carving into the developmental league market domestically... taking market share away from the NCAA which is falling apart in terms of maintaining allegiances in view of the new attitudes toward transfers and player compensation. There's a real opportunity there to make some serious money if/when the NFL decides to go that direction.
