I don't care how the voting goes, if McCoy doesn't win the Heisman they should stop giving that award out...

375 attempts, 291 completions, for 3449 yards, 32 TDs and 7 ints... 128 carries for 576 yards and 10 more TDs... that means he was in on 503 plays in 12 games (41.6 per game), and gained 4025 yards (335.4 yards per game) and 42 TDs (3.5 per game)...

And oh yeah, he broke Daunte Culpepper's NCAA season record for completion percentage, 77.6%... think about that, in 12 games he completed nearly 80 per cent of his passes... his 9.2 yards per attempt average is impressive, too... but what I like the most, the one stat I said he HAD to improve on this season, is the percentage of interceptions... 7 ints in 375 attempts is 1.87%, and that's EXCELLENT...

The Horns wouldn't have won 8 games without Colt...

I'm about as avid of an OU fan as it gets, but I gotta go McCoy first, followed closely by Bradford.

Bradford has been greatness all year as well so it is truly hard for me to barely put the Coltser ahead of Big Sam.

Bradford has had a great season, no doubt about it...

I woulda never figured you for a Sooners fan, though... :D

As a Sooner fan I have to agree, McCoy has the ability to rally his team and make things happen ala VY. I think that's what separates McCoy and Bradford right now. Both have incredible stats but that intangible goes to McCoy and something Bradford will add to the arsenal soon.

My vote goes to McCoy as well but not because I believe he's vastly superior to Bradford but more to the fact that he's more valuable to his team than what Bradford is to the Sooners. From top to bottom, Oklahoma has a more talented team than the Longhorns - that's not taking anything away from UT, it just simply has more to do with the number of All-Americans each team carries. If Bradford was taken out of the equation, the Sooners would continue to find success on the field and my bet would be that their record would still be 10-1 (imo). Given these same conditions for UT if Colt was out of the picture, their record would be far worse than what it actually is because I've seen what Chiles (UT's backup qb) can do and I'm telling you it's a huge dropoff in talent; exposing a very mediocre Texas offense. McCoy is to the Longhorns what Romo is to our Cowboys (and we all know how bad Dallas looks when Tony isn't playing).

With that said, based upon an argument I had a few years back with a staff writer with the DMN regarding Vince Young vs. Reggie Bush for the Heisman, I'd be wrong. Supposedly there's a difference between a player considered to be his team's MVP as opposed to the criteria established for the Heisman selection (nation's best football athlete). I argued that the two compliment each other and should go hand-in-hand but since Young did in fact lose out to Bush (coming in third no less), I was, indeed, wrong.

Well Boys, unfortunately for Colt and Sam, there is another fella out there who is a Heisman candidate, and he already has one on his mantle.....I sure hope he doesn't win his second.

Wow. I think you just somewhat made a case for the Sooners to leap Texas IF they defeat the Cowboys in Stillwater.

OU is the better team but Colt McCoy has a heart the size of Texas that is hard to deny. That being said, give me a 100% OU with a 100% Demarco Murray and adequate Middle Linebacker over the complete Longhorn roster any day of the week.

If Reynolds doesn't get hurt, OU wins that game. IF our running game was what it is now, OU wins that game.

Texas was the better team on that day and they should be respected for that, but OU is the better team NOW and that should be respected.

What's sad is, if OU would've lost to let's say, Kansas, we wouldn't even be having this discussion because we would have no questions who goes into the CCG, and after that game, OU is sitting pretty to go into the National Title game.

Texas dug their own grave by getting owned in the first quarter, and losing to a team that OU completely dismantled and destroyed. Their loss + our destruction of the team they lost to is pretty much all I need to see for an "as of now" argument.

If it were middle October, I'd say Texas, but it isn't.

Also, UT struggling the way they did against OSU in Austin isn't helping them any. And the Missouri win in the "gauntlet" isn't exactly winning over the masses considering Mizzou is and always has been vastly overrated.

OU's non con schedule performance is AT LEAST as good as UT's little "gauntlet" performance, so I'd say you'd have to be a complete fool to just blindly disregard OU and it's argument due to expected Texas bias.

He can have it and sit next to Chris Weinke and eat on it as long as OU brings home National Championship #8 to tie Notre Dame as the best college football program in the history of college football.

I'll go ahead and claim 16 for a second while all the USC fans and such claim titles that aren't undisputed since that is exactly how many we have when counting NCAA recognized national championships.

Dude, what in the bloody hell are you talking about? Because in case you haven't noticed, this thread is about who is more deserving of winning the Heisman trophy this year. There are several threads in this forum that are already discussing the merits of UT/OU and who deserves to be in the Big XII Championship but this thread isn't one of them.

FWIW, you could start here where I did, in fact, make a case for why OU is the more deserving team:

http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137947

One more thing, do us a favor and park the insults at the front door. Sure there are fans in here who are biased but who isn't? Calling members a "complete fool" is totally unnecessary as well as unwarranted.

Where did I call any member a complete fool? I don't think I directed that toward anyone in particular. I'm sure that most would agree with that.

Also, I just threw all of my opinion in there along with the Heisman talk. Didn't feel like navigating each thread and arguing petty arguments with everyone.

I hope that clears things up for you. :)

Clear as mud. ;) Perhaps I just read your statement wrong because I did think the remark had been directed at me. Thanks for clarifying.

As far as your decision to post in this thread and comment on a different topic - well, whatever floats your boat, you certainly are entitled to post about whatever gets your juices flowing on any given thread. It's just that I think your comments would be better received if kept on-topic with the subject matter. It helps to avoid confusion and misunderstanding (as evident with these last two replies). Regardless, who am I to say what's appropriate and inappropriate? It's not like I'm the "Miss Manners" of the message board around here. ;)

lol yeah... I try not to get too worked up on these boards. I post on an OU board and was easily irritated as an early poster.

I hear ya about keeping certain topics in certain threads. I'll be honest and admit I got a little ahead of myself as I drifted off topic.

I just never get the chance to sit down and talk good football with you men and I enjoy it when I do.

Today's gonna be an interesting day for some pigskin, that's for sure.
