I see this One More Year thought thrown about regarding Garrett being on the hot seat, Marinelli retiring and Dak either getting a new deal or getting replaced. All three of these men have one more year?

I do not know where this comes from as I haven't seen Marinelli saying this is his last year and they just started building his D, why would he hang it up unless for health? The man has struggled mightily with injuries and missing players. Why walk away when it is looking up?

Not one person in the Cowboys organization has said that Garrett is on the hot seat and it's the playoffs or 3:10 to Yuma for him. Don't let media speculation, because they have nothing else better to do and have to fill the time and fill the Cowboys News quota, plant thoughts in your mind. Just my opinion but Garrett is family and we know how they treat family. He is not getting fired after this season. But we will have one more year of some wanting a crappy season just to get rid of him and that just baffles me.

This will be Dak's 3rd season with 1 remaining on his rookie contract, they do not have to do anything with the 2019 season with regards to a new deal. He would have to really come off the tracks or get injured significantly for either of these young QB's to take his place and if he isn't all that they want, he would still have that 4th season to fight for the QB1 spot with either a FA or high draft pick QB.

Lawrence may have one more year because of his salary demands and the same can be said for Martin as I will be surprised if they keep both. Collins may have one more year because of his injury issues. Jones may have one more year if he's not a CB and gets replaced in the starting lineup and may not be willing to be relegated to backup duty and ST.

However, the only one I would actually bet on having one more year is Linehan. I do think he's the sacrificial lamb should this not be a playoff season and the offense stumble in any way. He's Booger's "escape goat" should they feel the need for one.

Who told you this......certainly hasn't come from the FO. We have seen nothing, from suggesting 2018 is an official ultimatum year for Dak as many fans seem to think. 110% fan talk.........

The garrett part is easy to see. As for dc rod, remember that earlier the fo was willing to make eberflus the dc and give rod a montyish advisory role. The decision might not be his. As for dak, he controls his own destiny.

From a fans point of view....

Garrett should be on the hot seat as well as Marinelli and Linehan.
Marinelli, well it should and hopefully is his last year. And there was something out back in January or February with all the coaching changes going on, that Rod said it would be his last year.

And Dak needs to perform well too. He had a great rookie year, not as good last year, but still decent with all the went on. He needs to rebound and have a steady year that will probably be in between both. He needs that to show he can be the franchise QB and get the $30 million. A year or whatever contract. Actually he can have 2 years if they want to stretch it out that long.

i think it comes from this being year 3 of a 4 year deal. While they do not have to do anything this year, it is in their best interest to, if he is determined to be the next long term QB. They do not want to get into a Cousins situation with Dak. So if he plays well, they will do what they can to get a long term deal done during the off season. If he doesn't play well, then it will open up 2019 to a possible new QB, who may or may not be already on the team, time will tell. But I do think 2018 is the year they will make a decision on Dak's long term contract situation with Dallas.

Spot on Coach !!

It’s just wishful thinking by his Lynch Mob. It's all part of the festivities here at The Zone . Ha

I agree. I believe we’re All-In on Dak regardless. All Dak is playing for this year is how big his contract will be.

Read Jerry and Stephen's ( twice this year ) recent comments regarding Dak future. They're damn near nego the contract already. Other words, sure sound to me like Dak is THEIR franchise QB and this year has nothing to do with it.

For better or worse, I do not think JG is going anywhere despite what his record is.
Yep and I do not get where this is coming from except for the wishful thinking of some. That also seems to be a safety net for some for a poor season, at least Garrett is gone.

If Dak plays this year like did last year, I think or at least hope, their tunes will change. Of course he is at the moment, he is the starter, they have to support him and they should. But if goes out and plays like a HS QB this year like last, all bets are off.

I don't know how sold they are but unless his wheels come off, this season is not necessarily the back breaker for him.

They are going to openly support him and be in his corner, just as they should and every coach on the team. There can be no wavering of confidence from management for Dak. There is always open confidence until there is not.

I definitely see jg being on the hot seat. Oc and dc as well. Stephen's taking over . Get used to it.

Stephen has hinted he expects more from Garrett. I think this is his last year and McClay (who has built this team) will take over.
Dont think Rod or Dak are under pressure

Your problem is you don't know how to read the tea leafs. Jerry has father time about to punch his ticket. Garrett I don't know about. He seems to be safe as long as Jerry is around. Rod is grooming his replacement and had him shadowing him ever since he was hired... Kris Richard.
