I received a PM a little over an hour ago that one of our forum members has been killed in Combat in Afghanistan. His username here was scotth66.
His name was Army Major Scott Hagerty.
Here's a portion of two PMs that were sent to me, shared with you here with the permission of his friend.
Here's the Link to the story of his death, and the article.

Sounds like a great man.I met Scott in 1991 and we instantly became good friends, in good portion due to the Cowboys.
He came into my store, and he noticed I had a Cowboys shirt on. Once we started talking, I realized he was just as huge a fan as I was . We were close to the same age, and had both grown up watching the Cowboys in the 70's.
We went to a few Cowboy games together, and watched some games together on TV virtually every year he was stateside. When he wasn't, I would record and burn the games on to a DVD, and send them to him.
A funny story about Scott: our first Dallas game we saw together at Texas Stadium was the debacle where Aikman was sacked 11 times by the Reggie White-led Philly defense. It's 90-95 degrees, and our seats are in the sun the entire game, so we're baking and getting mad at the same time. But, by God, we were determined to stay for the whole thing.
So Scott is sitting there, and we're civilly discussing the obvious issues with the team, when all of a sudden, after the 10th sack, the straw had broken. He goes into a profanity-laced tirade.
"The ****** line won't block for ****** Aikman! How in the **** are we supposed to move the ******* ball when the ******* line just lays down!! This is ******* bull****!!!"
I just kind of laughed, because it wasn't the 4th, 5th, 6th, or even the 9th sack. It was the 10th sack that sent him over the top.
He was a great man and a terrific father. I had the honor to serve as best man in his 2nd wedding.
This was his 3rd tour, and I believe he was only 6 months away from retirement.
His wife just came into the store by the way and was filling me in on things.
He'll be coming home from Dover on Monday. They're saying their vehicle hit an IED.

STILLWATER — A soldier from Stillwater was killed while serving in Afghanistan, a military official confirmed Wednesday.
Army Maj. Scott Hagerty, 41, was killed while in Afghanistan during an incident that occurred Tuesday, said Army Maj. Steve Wuensch, who was meeting with family members on Wednesday.
Wuensche could not confirm exactly how Hagerty was killed.
Hagerty is survived by his wife, Daphne, and two young sons, Jonathan and Samuel. Hagerty had lived in Stillwater since 1976 when his family moved to Oklahoma. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1984, and joined the Army in 1986.
He spent 2006 and 2007 stationed in Africa, where he helped repair water wells in northern Uganda. His first deployment was to Iraq from October 2004 to August 2005.
Hagerty attended Oklahoma State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in 1993 in political science, pre-law and international relations. He also received his commission as a second lieutenant in the Army Reserve at graduation.
According to the Department of Defense, as of May 31, 443 U.S. soldiers have died in Afghanistan, with 308 of those killed in action.
A Guest book tribute has been added for him if any of you wish to sign it.His death has started to really hit me today as I'm notifying fellow Cowboy fans - that was our true common bond between Scott and I . I was the best man in his wedding, and right after the services, he sent me out to my car to listen to the radio to see if Atlanta, I think, had beaten San Francisco to give Dallas the opportunity to clinch home field on Monday night against Arizona (The 1995 championship season, I believe). That one makes me laugh, too.
