Irvin could be triple covered and Aikman would split the 8's on his jersey.
When asked how he was able to consistently catch Aikman's passes, Kelvin Martin replied, "It was too late to get out of the way."
I'm not implying anything covert when I tell you that Aikman's hands are huge! He had to learn to throw the ball while gripping the middle because his hands were to large to hold the ball in it's usual manner. No joke! I don't know if they still have a replica of his hands on display at the games but it made it seem like my hands belonged to a child.
One of the best Aikman passes I saw was about a 30 yard pass into the endzone for a TD. I think it was Harper but I'm not sure.
Anyway, a DB was on his way there from one side while another DB was arriving from the other side. There was a half second where they were both about to meet the WR at the same time.
When Aikman released the ball the announcer was about to call an INT and was genuinely shocked that the ball was caught by the WR and not intercepted. Aikman had perfectly threaded the needle.
That play has got to be on YouTube and i will put them up as soon as I find them.
