I guess this is as good a place as any to eat some crow.
At the beginning of the season, I thought Dallas was a 9-7 team. If they got lucky a 10-6. At worst a 7-9 team, if there were injures.
Saying that I never jumped off the Wade Phillips bus though. He just needed some time to get this team together, kind of like Jimmy Johnson. I was pissed when JJ got here, but I knew it was time for a change, and hoped for the best, About the same with Wade, because I thought at the time of the hiring that Wade was the best choice of what was available. Things that really surprised me;

1. I already mentioned one- enough said. Thanks trainers, always thought you some of the best, and Coach Phillips for the way you practice. Credit also goes to off season routines!

2. Wide receivers are a lot better than I thought they would be. MILES ahead of what I thought they would be. ( I was never a big fan of the way that Bills player acted, and it did not bother me he was leaving.) I thought we would have a big vacuum to fill though, and they did it. Thanks Jason!

3. Romo - always been a fan - what an improvement- I don't quit know who to thank for this one -Kitna? Coaches? Romo? or all the above! Keep believing and improving!

4. Thanks to the 3 headed monster! Draft!!!

5. Defense! - I thought we had drafted right here, but these guys have really stepped it up! Thanks Guys and WADE!

6. My biggest problem was with the OL and probably still is. These guys have been pretty good. I still think this is our weakest link, but with Romo's skills, it gets them by. Surprised at Doug Free. I think some are still overrating him a bit, but he good enough to start in this league, and will only improve as he plays. I still wish they would open up holes for running at times, but do so very well at times. Show some consistency and this aspect will be okay. They have to protect Tony from the pass rush better, and this is my biggest gripe. It just makes me wonder what kind of QB, Tony could be if he had the kind of protection some of the better pocket QB's get. I really don't blame this on our coaches. I do give them credit for the job they have done though.

7. Special Teams - this is one of the more pleasant surprises over last year.
Can you imagine this area, if Folk had his skills of 2 years ago? I wonder how many wins have been because of these guys! Thank coaches and players!

I have been eating crow for several weeks now and enjoying the hell out of it. I have loved being a fan of this team since it was created (although i still don't remember much of the first 2 years.) It sure has it ups and downs, but the good times really make up for the low points.

Keep believing! Go Cowboys!

Oops forgot one:
Thanks ZONE!

Winning does smooth alot of things over and recent weeks have been fun.

However...

Whenever we lose our next game (hopefully next preseason) my hope is that we could have thoughtful, respectful conversation around why, how and what is the right corrective action the org should take.

I'm not sure there is any reason to believe that hope will be fulfilled. But I'll enjoy the fruits of our winning streak as long as we can keep it going.

Impossible to do unless all of the people ignore the same people in each thread. Every time we lose, you'll always get threads/comments featuring Cut/Trade/Bench <Player> or Fire <Coach>.

I have an ex-sister-in-law that you would dig. Well, as long as you didn't mind her cheating on you with men and women. She has the exact same philosophies about food and worships her own body.

First of all it is a special bread. It is slit open but not corner to corner. That way the ingredients don't slop out onto your clothes. Very fresh and 10 times better than store bought hot dog buns.

They wrap a hot dog in bacon and deep fry it. Then place it in the bun. On that they scoop some beans and grilled onions. Some pico de gallo and then some shredded cheddar cheese before a spritz of mustard and mayo.

At most of the restaurants here you can personally add pico de gallo and guacamole. They are delicious.

Things have been flat out pleasant since a certain movement happened and the Cowboys started playing like they are. Here's hoping both keep rolling.

was going to say the same thing. when theebs posted the first "believe video" everything has changed around here. Beating the Saints helped a lot but it's amazing how enjoyable this place has been since then.

This has been one of the best weeks on Cowboyszone that I can remember.

The "positive" attitude that everyone seems to have.

Listening to all the "trash talk" from the Vikings players

Last but not least, listening to the guys on KFAN as they provided entertainment and gave a lot information about the Vikings.

I think next week will be even better if the Cowboys are playing for the right to go to the Super Bowl.

Here's hoping that it will happen

:vikings:

Have to agree with you 100% --I have trolled a little ,but basically stayed in the daily zone ..Was pretty fed up with the smog in the fanzone..Seems like winning and a Sonora dog has cleared the air:)

Even if the Vikes beat us tomorrow, The Cowboys have vindicated themselves as far as i'm concerned...They SILENCED the mouthy Eagles TWICE, and stuffed the Saints...And # 11 caught a few passes along the way...Outhouse to the penthouse!

I am not conceding anything yet by any means but I also agree that this season has already been a big success. The club has removed all of the cancer and the outlook is good for the future. This year we have seen the emergence of the following excellent players:

1. Miles Austin
2. Anthony Spencer
3. Mike Jenkins
4. Felix Jones

These coaches have shown they are very good:

1. Jason Garrett - shows he is an upper echelon OC
2. Wade Phillips - shows he can lead a team and still knows how to run a defense.
3. Coach D - Turns our special teams entirely upside down. Our old weaknesses are strengths (coverage units, KOs and punt returns) and vice-versa but it has been a net good.

We also have got a look at the potential of:

1. Doug Free
2. Kevin Ogletree
3. Martellus Benett again still just potential
4. Tashard Choice again still just potential

We also added the following solid vets to the roster:

1. Gerald Sensabaugh
2. Igor Olshansky
3. Keith Brooking

Unfortunately we have also begun to see a bit of decline in:

1. Flozell Adams - every year he is a tick slower and he can't spare anymore ticks now.
2. Leonard Davis (Pro Bowl is a sham but he is still good)
3. Roy Williams - probably not going to be the difference amaker we were hoping for.
4. Nick Folk - just fell apart at mid-season
5. Marion Barber - showing signs of wearing down already

But the pluses far outweigh the minuses. I do think we should even be better next year but we do need to address depth (we got unusually lucky with injuries to vets but were snake-bitten with the rookies). Hopefully we continue to take a look to the future and really address the big need in quality young OL as we need to invest in protecting Romo before the vets fall totally apart. I also want Houck to get a chance to train them before he retires (hopefully many years away).

In summary, I am happy with this year. I am still hungry for more. The FO and players have done a great job at turning this ship around by making some bold moves that paid off.

Getting Free playing time is huge for next year---We now know Roy doesn't have to be the #1(even if he is paid like one) We have Austin and a ton of potential from Otree..Hopefully we can add a few lineman and our rookies(2nd year player)will be free from injuries next year
I am concerned about JG leaving --you would think he is a hot item again this year

I vow to leave my believe sig up for at least another year. This has indeed been a great week, not only on the zone but as a fan too.

There are no guarantees in life but the connections between the Garrett clan and the Cowboys run very deep with the father and 3 sons. Furthermore, he was the backup here several years, Jerry promoted him to OC very quickly, he has allegedly gotten the "golden handshake" for the HC position when Wade is gone and he is the highest paid coordinator in the league. Furthermore, most of the coaching jobs available aren't in good franchises and they are dwindling as he continues to coach us in the playoffs. He is unlikely to have as much influence on another team as HC he will have here. Plus, he knows Jerry will give him a decent shot of 3 or more years before pulling the plug if things aren't gangbusters out of the gate. Now if Coughlin retires and he is offered the job right away then he might consider bolting but otherwise I see him being the HC here within three years.
