I think any of them, from any party, would probably find a way to screw up a good thing. Hence, the leave 'em in Washington remark.

Look at what happened with the transit strike here in NY...they had YEARS to settle the issue...and the transit workers ended up going on strike partly because negotiations were put off until the last minute...
