...at least we moved up a couple spots in the draft from #31 to #29.

Yeah, yeah, small consolation, but it's some small consolation at least.

I don't quite follow. I'm hardly saying the loss is a good thing, but how is moving up two more spots in the first round a bad thing?

You're not a real fan. ;)

from nfl.com, regarding selection order...

within a tied segment a playoff club that loses in the Wild-Card game will have priority over a playoff club that loses in the Divisional playoff game, which in turn will have priority over a club that loses in the Conference Championship game. If two tied clubs exited the playoffs in the same round, the tie is broken by strength of schedule.
If any ties cannot be broken by strength of schedule, the divisional or conference tie breakers, whichever are applicable, are applied. Any ties that still exist are broken by a coin flip.

I'm assuming that the Colts, Packers and Cowboys are a tied segment. If that's true, the Packers now pick after us. The Patriots will pick after us (forfeited). The Chargers and Giants will pick after us only if they reach the SB. The tie between us and the Colts is broken by strength of schedule (not sure who owns this). So it's possible that the Giants, Chargers, Patriots, Packers and Colts could be slotted in the 32-28 spot. Which means we could pick as high as 27?

The only good thing about this loss is Jerry should realize that pissing away 2 first round picks on his boy McFadden is a waste. If yesterdays game proved anything, it proved that we need a CB, and another real threat for a WR.
