NFL.com News | Vick, Humane Society speak out against dogfighting game

SAN FRANCISCO -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick and the Humane Society said Monday that an application built to run on Google Inc.'s Android software glorifies dogfighting.

The cell-phone app is called "Dog Wars" and lets players feed, water, train and fight their virtual dogs against others.

"I've come to learn the hard way that dogfighting is a dead-end street," Vick said in a statement posted on the Humane Society's website. "Now, I am on the right side of this issue, and I think it's important to send the smart message to kids, and not glorify this form of animal cruelty, even in an Android app."

Publicly speaking against the issue in all of its various forms is commendable in my book--even IF it's due to public relations self-motivation. I've been hard on him for the utterly total nonsense which he consciously, willfully and illegally placed himself in, but for this deserves props from even me.

:clap2:

Baby steps. Good for him.

I'm one who thinks that the Vick that left prison is an upgrade (not a saint by any means, but better) than the Vick that went in.

It will take years of him doing better to possibly bring certain people around to actually believing he is sincere, but that is the price he'll have to pay.

What's next, speaking out against Mafia Wars?

The Grand Theft Auto series?

Call Of Duty?

Waste of time.

Your right. I'm not sold on him. Over time maybe that changes for now he is doing what he has to do as part of his probation and to get in the good graces of the NFL. Time will tell the sincerity of his action. To me everyone gets the benifet of the doubt until you screw up as he did after that trust has to be earned.

And it should be years. Perhaps even decades. He dug himself a big enough hole. Why a multimillionaire (and a very famous one at that) who knew that he was committing a federal crime would put himself there is bewildering.

Dang it.

I agree.

We'll see who he really is when he doesn't have the NFL to fall back on. Then and only then will I believe he has changed.

Sounds like a plan.

I am also against cholesterol in donuts, smokers, drinkers, and let's see perfume or cologne wearers. How dare you.

The world has gone mad I will tell you.

This is of course, tongue in cheek. Don't eat donuts, don't smoke, yup, like my vodka, and never wear cologne (but who cares).

A duck is a duck. Do you really need to be told not to electrocute dogs??? This is off the wall ridiculous.

Oh, zzzzzzzzzzzz. A normal person would not have such a discussion.

Yup, nuts.

Ahhh, the beauty of America.....
He has a right to protest anything he wants, even if it is a waste of time.
And they have the right to produce the ap, because, after all, it's just a game.

Yo hypocrite. You can't defend Vick for speaking out against dog fighting after you publicly defended dog fighting. He's now against your stance. You must hate him.
