Who will be their Def Coordinator this year? What position did he coach last year?

I assume you know the answer already or you wouldn't have posted the thread.

That was a questionable move but I guess they figured if they got enough vets, then they wouldn't really need a legit defensive coach.

I look at their O-Line and Linebackers as their biggest weaknesses. Rookie kicker, but hes supposed to be good but who knows. I would love for DeSean to hold out for an extended period of time.

Geez, why are we worrying about the Eagles so much? We will pay them soon enough and see if they can live up to the “Dream Team” label. But, i don’t like us acting like Commander fans and obsessing over a rival.

Your best post ever! ;)

I thought it was a crazy move -- but what I've heard from a number of Eagle fans is that Castillo was as much a part of the defensive staff under Jim Johnson as any of the traditional defensive position coaches and that's he is as smart a coach as you'll find in the league. If he does well in this role he is likely right to the front of the line for HC interviews.

The Eagles season still comes down to Michael Vick and I don't think he has what it takes for a team to win a championship.

All the players that play with him and against him seem to think otherwise. There is a reason Philadelphia was such an attractive option for so many FAs, and it wasn't because of the chance to take a tour of Betsy Ross' house or see the Liberty Bell.

In what way? He was the OL coach.

Thats is the one thing that is bothering me...they have a number of major holes on thier team that a couple of DBs cant fix. Sure Jenkins was a good sign to go with Trent Cole but Babin in a one year wonder and both him and Jenkins are over 30. Actually the size of their starting d-line says they can be ran on with a big hefty line like we have.

Thier Oline was not great last season and their first round pick is still holding out.

Also this will be the d-coordinator's first year as a d-coordinator. actually his first year on the defensive side of the ball.

Every year the media pump up a team to go all the way and they flop! Remember our last off season with the Super Bowl coming to Dallas?

just saying...

I agree with the LB and O-Line. Its one thing to have talent (see the 2008 Cowboys), but players need direction. I really do think a New DC is going to be the teams Achilles Heel.

I agree. My own eagle related post in recent days were only in response to all the crying over how unstoppable they will be.

What's lost in this is just how neccessary the signing were. The DE they traded up to draft in 2010, Graham, stunk last year and had microfracture surgery. He's not playing in 2011.

I still see Castillo as the major question mark.

Consider this......we're facing them in week 7, or week 16, or even in the playoffs this year, and both DCs are gameplanning.

Who has your confidence? Ryan vs Vic or Castillo vs Romo?

I agree. That was rather odd. I watched a special on him during the summer and I like the guy. He is self made and came up the hard way. He actually drove to GB while Reid was coaching there becasue he knew Reid was the lead candiate to become the eagles next head coach. He slept in his car waiting on Reid to ask for a chance.

No where did it talk about him in regard to Johnson. From what I can tell, Reid is really his mentor giving that Reid was a former OL coach.

he worked with that unit on blitzes -- Johnson wanted a voice in the room who would address the offense's perspective on how they would plan against various packages.
