What changes do you guys think the Coaches made on defense if any?

I honestly don't think they made any significant changes. They probably gave the guys more coach speak but we all know where that has gotten us from this coaching staff. I have this glimmer of hope that Bobby Carpenter figures to have a more prominent role tonight.

Carpenter came through on that blitz last week like gangbusters, but it was terrible how easily Kitna avoided him.

This is the achilles heal of the team. I wish they could fix it because we could do some damage in the playoffs with a good D.

I don't think that happens again. He'll wrap up next time. Every rook has his own assortment of NFL firsts.

I wish they would go with Henry and Watkins at the safty positions,, bring Roy in on Nickel to play closer to the line, much like bill bates used to do. Bring in Glenn, jones or reeves as the corner when Henry moves to SS. Or even Parrish if he can still cover. I would run more line stunts to create a crease for a LB to rush thru on blitz's.. I think that is our main problem on the Blitz, we just rush straight forward instead of using the downline to get the OL out of position.

I dont think a playoff game is where you starting experimenting with your defense. The horse is out of the barn, a little late to close the door now.

The D has been horrible for the past month, I think if there was a quick fix, it would have been tried by now. I have about as much confidence in Zimmer and this D as I do in it snowing in Austin tommorow.

Fellas, this is going to be a shootout.

Less 4 across zones...more press coverage, with the FS playing CF and Roy up where the action is.

I dont think a playoff game is where you starting experimenting with your defense. .

You don't need all out experimentation and something new...you have to go back to the defense you were playing early in the year when the FS position screwed you....the way our defense has played against all opponents in the last month, a coach who changes nothing should be fired...at halftime

They're gonna try to air it out, I see Newman stepping it up big today.

None whatsoever.

We'll be playing a base 3-4 defense on downs 1 and 2. We'll switch to the nickel on 3rd downs.

We will not blitz an inordinate amount. We will not stunt. We will not vary coverages either.

Our linebackers will continue to play too deep over the middle and allow long gains on dump offs to backs. Aaron Glenn will continue to play too far off his receiver and give up 3rd down coversions.

All we can hope for is that our players play very very well, because the scheme isn't changing.
