Only 2 1000 yard rushers since 2001?

Wow. I heard this stat today, and didn't realize our running game has been this bad. 1000 yards isn't a whole lot in a 16 game season. This has to be one of the lowest in the league in the last 12 years, right? Congrats to Murray.

To be fair, Marion Barber had multiple seasons where he was very close to 1000 yards. But yes, other than that our running game has been inept since Emmitt left.

There's been reasons for that. Not to make excuses for it. Part of it was due to injuries. Julius Jones and Demarco both should've had 1,000 yards multiple times if it wasn't for injury. Specifically in both of their rookie years. Also part of it was we've always had a running back by committee. There was one year where it was Tashard, Marion and Felix. A few more years where it was Felix and Demarco or Marion and Felix. There was Julius and Marion as well.
