I think we can all agree at least on the numbers below. We might take somebody else (ogletree or stanback?), but we'll keep at least 5 wr for instance. So, that's 50 guaranteed spots and three up for grabs. Check it!

Qb -- 3 -- Romo Kitna McGee
Rb -- 3 -- Barber, Felix, Choice
Fb -- 1 -- Anderson
Te-- 3 -- Witten, Bennett, Phillips
Wr -- 5 -- Roy, Pat, Miles, Sam, (ogletree or stanback)
Oline--9--Starters, Holland, Free, (2 of McQ, Preston, Proctor)
Dline--6--Spears, Ratliff, Olshansky, Bowen, Siavii, Hatcher
LB -- 8 -- Starters, Carp, Williams, Butler, Octavien
Cb -- 4 -- Newman, Jenkins, Scandrick, Ball
S -- 4 -- Hamlin, Hamlin, Sens, Smith
St- 4

That's 50 guarantees, 3 spots left.

Top candidates, in order: Stanback, Stewart, Watkins, Mickens, Hodge, Dixon, Robertson, Proctor, Bright, Gibbons.

I think Stewart, Watkins, and Stanback stay, at least for now. If a Cb gets hurt, we cut Watkins and bring up Mickens. Same for Hodge if we lose a LB, Bright for Oline, Dixon for Dline.

Sorry guys, you can't say Stanback isn't one of those top three.

I wouldn't count out Tearrius George also. At this point I would say Mickens, Bright and Watkins get the three spots. I really hope Watkins doesn't make the team but I say he stays solely because of his special teams play. I only say Bright because he's been getting a lot of reps with the 2nd team OL and Wade singled him out recently for praise. I say Mickens makes it because it would be hard to only carry 4 CB's in Newman, Jenkins, Scandrick and Ball. Hodge, Dixon, Robertson and Gibbons make the PS I say.

Hodge hasn't even seen the field. I doubt any team even knows about him. He'll almost definitely go to the PS if he doesn't show a lot next week. He isn't even playing tomorrow night.

Given our history of injuries at CB - even this preseason - there is no way we can go with just 4 CBs. I definitely say we keep a 5th.

I'm sure Dallas wasn't the only team that scouted him. Every team in the league knows what an athlete he is.

I think everybody counts out Stewart, and he has experience, played under Wade, plays good ST, and can play inside or out.

I think Stewart is in as the ninth linebacker. If not, we keep Hodge, but he hasn't seen the field, so I think we risk it.

Then probably Stanback.

Biggest ? is Mickens, Watkins, or Brown. I think we gotta keep one more DB, but who?

I hear what you're saying but for a team to claim him off waivers, they would have to sign him to their 53 man roster. There's no team in the league that would elevate Hodge to the 53 man roster when he hasn't even seen the field and that he's injured.

Hodge HAS seen the field. Last week he was around the ball a lot on special teams. I was impressed! However, if he's still having knee issues that might scare other teams away or might land him on the DL.

Thats not true. If we release him, he can sign anywhere, including to another teams practice squad. Its only after he is signed to a practice squad that he would have to be put on the 53 man roster for another team to sign him. This happened to us just last year. I can't remember which player but it was one most of us thought would be brought back to the practice squad but he decided to join another team's practice squad instead.

I'd say right now, today, Stanback clearly isnt on this team on opening day.

He's gotta show something tonight and next Friday IMO, otherwise he is definitely gone.

There's always stuff we don't know going on behind the scenes that surprises us around cutdowns. I like the drama.

2007 when we let Aaron Glenn go? Cutting Matt Moore after his great pre-season?

Last year, the trade for Holland, cutting Evan Oglesby after his great pre-season?

Something always escapes us, like this week when Wade said he digs Travis Bright. Who knew from Travis Bright? Who else is doing good that we don't know about, doing bad that we don't know about?

Let's say something off the wall will happen and catch us blind like:

Folk hasn't done too great so far. Hypothetical: us fans have no idea of stuff like kicking grades in practice .. maybe Buehler has outgraded Folk in on DeCamillis' charts and there's going to be a tough decision kicking FGs. .... Because Folk is recovering from an injury, they play it safe and keep Buehler. (Remember Billy Cundiff? ... yeah he wasn't a Pro Bowl kicker but he was pretty good ... we were all shocked when he was just let go because of an injury. There's never been room on the 53 for an injured kicker, those guys are just cast off it seems ... ) ... I'm sure a better fate awaits Folk, but you never know ...

Or, there's more fear at backup corner and safety than we think, and we have to cut any or all of the three rookies to get some vets in ... Keith Davis, anyone?

Just killing time this morning. I think I busted my little toe yesterday. Anybody done that? I need to fortify myself to go buy some beer and self-medicate.

I don't see any scenario where Pat Watkins makes the team barring injury to a safety.

I also don't see Deon Anderson as a lock to make the team. Cowboys are going with 4 TEs. May cut the FB and make room for another TE. That is, if the special teams can be good without Anderson. Anderson is one of the best Cowboy STers.

Who's the 4th tight end now that Hannah was released? Deon will make the team because he's a good fullback and one of our best special teams players.

Wade basically said Anderson is a lock the other day in his press conference. We run too many plays with a FB to not keep one (Garrett still longs for a Johnston, I think). Plus, he's our best returning ST player
