How did that happen?
Lucky they didn't have a real "thrower of the football" out there lol

But seriously... Nine....?

but basically there was 9 to defend the fake punt. Harris was 40 yards down the field he wasn't a factor in defending it.

yes with a punter who has never thrown a ball in a live game. I agree with Collingsworth, in this situation do I go with a punter or Drew Brees? I think Payton out smarted himself

No, Broadus did a tape review on that play (on the Ap). They were in the "prevent" special teams formation. In other words they were expecting something tricky and the Saints carried through with their fake anyway.

What I didn't get was the 3rd down play. Instead of something deep, why not pick up a few yards so your not putting your punter in a unmanageable 4th and 15 situation?

We only used 9 so that we would force them into a fake punt with there all star Kicker/QB. Strategy worked to perfection.

I understand that heck I was expecting the fake as well. I'm sitting there wondering why the Saints are about to punt, only thought I had was if he punts then he punts but watch for the fake, it is not like the ball is live after he punts it. Dallas played it well even if they played it a couple of men short. Meantime Coach Peyton should be questioned why take the ball out of Brees hands and put it in the hands of a punter with no real passing experience. You are going from one of the all time best to a no body? Cowboy fans would have been all over Jason for something like that.

I was so excited on that play. The way they stuffed that fake. "Don't you ever" ....
That's why I know something special is developing with this team. Their spacing was good. They weren't running all over each other like Keystone Cops. They had it boxed in. It was beautiful. And they did it with less than 11.

True, when the outside guy for NO went on the reverse the guy on the Cowboys line to that side they held their ground and he side the punter went to was covered as well. No place to go with the ball
