Only Jerry Jones could do this. And our fans will eat it up

What's with all the double spacing? LOL

Anyway, I don't disagree the Cowboys need a pass rush but the opportunity was there for Porter. I don't know who was available to help the pass rush. And, the Cowboys have too many injuries at CB. Further, the CBs weren't any good before the injuries.

The time to fix the pass rush was in the off-season. There were a few players available and Dallas ignored them all.
Blueblood had me worried

i love the trade.
bland and revell are our 2 best cb's and revell is hurt.
outside of downs, bland and revell...our secondary is crap.
porter is desperately needed.
and this should help the pass rush.

Dumb post
Yeah coming from the guy who said just a few days ago Jerry was all talk and wouldn’t trade for anybody. How’s that looking now? Mud on your face , per usual. 25 years running around here for you.

We have nothing to worry about. From what ive been reading in other threads, our defense gives us every chance to win games.

Pay no attention to the high volume of yards and points they give up. Other than that, our defense is straight. According to what ive read....

Please tell me - which Pro Bowl/HOF-caliber player is on the block right now?? It’s better to get another outstanding CB than a bottom 50 Edge. It is what it is. We know what we need in the next draft/FA cycle. Get a clue.
It is too early in the season to see who the winners and losers are. If the Raiders were 0-3 instead of 3-0 maybe Crosby would be on the block but as long as they keep winning he will not be leaving Las Vegas.

Who else? The Giants are looking for a DE with Burns out for the year too. Maybe they can pry someone loose from a team but it will take lots of draft capital to do that., more than I think most Cowboys fans would be willing to pay. The bad pass rush is a result of a poor job in the offseason seeing it was a problem then solving it correctly instead of trading for Gary and sign Von Miller.

Honestly, based on teh first 3 games, Sam Williams was better than Miller and Gary. Perhaps they should have kept him. Or maybe give Wheat and Land a shot. At least Wheat plays hard.

We have Eze as a second year player, Lawrence as a talented first round rookie, and already signed Von Miller. How many edges do you try to get? At some point you have to see if these young guys can develop.

Personally, I think Lawrence will figure it out. We knew he was raw and needed snaps at this level.

Only the Dallas Cowboys could look at a defense with TWO sacks in three games and decide the missing piece was a cornerback.

Not a pass rusher.

Not someone who can collapse the pocket.

Not someone capable of making a quarterback feel even mildly inconvenienced.

A cornerback.

The Cowboys have zero sacks over the last two games. Opposing quarterbacks have enough time in the pocket to make a sandwich, check their email, update their fantasy lineup and then wait for somebody to come open.

So Jerry Jones looked at that mess and said, “You know what would fix this? Let’s trade a future second-round pick for Joey Porter Jr.”

Brilliant.

That’s like watching your house burn down and ordering a new doorbell.

Porter is at his best when he can get physical and play press-man coverage. Dallas plays a zone-heavy system roughly 70 percent of the time.

So naturally, the Cowboys traded premium draft capital for a corner whose best skill doesn’t match the defense they currently run.

Either change the scheme or explain what the hell the plan is.

Because right now, the plan appears to be asking Porter to cover receivers for nine seconds while the defensive line politely waits for the quarterback to finish reading the entire field.

And it gets better.

Porter hasn’t played a single game this season because of a back injury. He is in the final year of his rookie contract and reportedly wants more than $30 million per season.

Dallas gave up a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick for the privilege of inheriting the injury, the contract dispute and the questionable scheme fit.

Oh, and Porter has committed 38 penalties in three seasons.

That part actually makes perfect sense.

Dallas led the NFL with 133 accepted penalties last season, so at least they found someone who already understands the culture.

Welcome to the Cowboys, Joey. Your jersey, locker and weekly holding penalty are ready.

To be clear, Porter is a talented player. He could absolutely improve this secondary.

But cornerback was not the fire currently burning down the building.

The fire is a pass rush with two sacks in three games and none since Week 1. The fire is opposing quarterbacks standing comfortably in the pocket until someone eventually gets open. The fire is a defense that cannot finish a pressure, end a drive or get off the field when it matters.

A great corner can help a pass rush by making the quarterback hold the ball longer.

But eventually, somebody still has to sack him.

Dallas apparently forgot that part.

This is what the Cowboys always do. They make the loud move instead of the logical move. Jerry gets a recognizable name, the media gets a week of content and fans are expected to pretend the defense has been fixed.

Meanwhile, the pass rush still couldn’t get home if you gave it a GPS and paid for the tolls.

Only the Dallas Cowboys could have no pass rush, run a zone-heavy defense and solve both problems by trading a premium pick for an injured press-man corner who needs a massive new contract.

Jerry Jones isn’t building a defense.

He’s collecting names.
I think the vast majority of fans is not buying his BS anymore.

His minions in the media will keep trying to sell it though. Doesn't mean it is working.

Calling others Jerry’s lapdog hahah. You should be embarrassed. You were rockport 2.0 your entire life until last week. We know who you really are

Jerry is just doing what a GM should do. We have a huge need even without the injuries. OP's post implies there is a deal to be made for a pass rusher that is feasible. Anyone know what that is? Raiders starting 3-0 seem to have taken the wind out of that sail. Jerry could do everything perfectly going forward and all the glass-half-empty posters will spin it all. I'm not sure how a GM making a trade for a position we desperately need is a "distraction". Resigning Zeke was a distraction. This is Jerry operating as he should have been the past 15 years. He's been awful for so long that when he finally starts making moves Howie and Les would make we are still finding fault in them. If they can still trade for a pass rusher they should do it, but to my knowledge there is no obvious deal to be made.

Wouldn't change a word. Only makes sense if you think Malachi Lawrence will be a 10 sack guy.

Dumb post

Who said cowboys can’t also go get a pass rusher?

This idea that oh we traded for the wrong player / position is so naive and stupid. Cowboys defense is trash and needs multiple players. Get as many good players on this defense as you can get. Now go get a pass rusher too before the deadline
He is a "like" farmer
