Only Philly stands in Dallas’ way – and T.O. can change that!
Now that we are implementing a new timing passing offense and a new aggressive 3-4 defense, which team in the NFC-East stands in the best position of defeating those schemes?
Personally, I think the team we will handle mightily is New York because the new 3-4 defense will have Eli Manning’s eyes spinning. I also think the Giants’ defense will be no match to cover the timing offense. So I think the Giants will be the least of our worries.
I also don’t see the Commanders as our greatest threat because I can easily see our defense unravel their offense. But I think their defense – especially their secondary – will give our mew timing offense some fits. So they’re somewhat of a concern, but nothing too frightening.
That takes me to the Eagles, which I see as the team that can potentially give us the most problems. McNabb – say whatever bad you want to say of him – can make you pay if you aggressively blitz him and miss. The knock against our aggressive scheme is dying by the blitz and don’t underestimate McNabb in this regard. They also run an aggressive defense which always poses the timing offense it’s greatest challenges.
Therefore, I think the NFC-East division will come down to a dogfight between the Eagles and the Cowboys, and right now, they have the upper hand in the way of overall record over recent years and playoff experience. But I still think Dallas can go toe-to-toe with them.
So in the end, I think these two teams will dog-fight it out when it comes to the Xs and Os, and quite possibly, the thing that may decide the winner of the NFC-East crown is the element of Psychological warfare between these two teams. In my opinion, this is where T.O. comes in. Philly seems to unite itself against Dallas under the desire of beating T.O. So far Philly has neutralized T.O. twice last season. But if T.O. can somehow find a way to have a breakout game against Philly – and by Dallas effectively running the timing offense, this is quite possible – then this can tip the psychological edge, and the division for that matter, in Dallas' favor.
Hey, it’s the off-season – so please forgive my dramatic indulgence with this post.
