does anyone else absolutely hate the stupid gimmicky onside kicks we have tried the last two weeks? why the hell dont we just kick an old fashion onside? we would have a much better chance to get it!

The two kickers thing is actually not a bad idea at all. The execution has been horrible though. Neither kick has gone ten yards with the correct bounce.

The rules for onside kicks have changed...

what do you mean? when we got the onside back in that crazy seattle game all we did was had the kicker bounce it really high, then have our hands team to up and get it past 10 yards, whats the new rule?

yeah, having both kickers is great IMO...but either one needs to kick it 10 yards at least

Changed this year. NFL teams can't have more than 5 players bunched together. So doing the 'old fashioned onside kick' is dead.

If Hurd hadn't touched it first last week, it would have worked just fine and you don't make this thread.

ya if he didnt touch that ball it wouldnt have gone 5 yards past the line of scrimmage, so i still would have made this thread

oh ok, that makes sense

Amen to that. Worst I have EVER seen.
There were only 2 seconds left today when we tried the onside, so that's why he kicked it so short, hoping it bounced off of the SD player and we recovered with one second left. There simply wasn't time to try a "conventional" onside kick, recover it, and have any time left.

Except it would have bounced off of a Giant player and we would have recovered....oops.

No, you wouldn't, because it would have bounced off a Giant otherwise.

The ball barely grazed Hurd and if he'd pulled his hands back, Dallas recovers the kick.

You're another example of someone *****ing just to *****.

The onside today was pathetic, no chance at all to recover. I know we only had 2 seconds, but it was poorly executed.

Dribbling the ball right to Antonio Gates was not a good idea. You do those straight-ahead dribblers as a surprise when the opponent has a habit of turning too quickly, not when they know you're going to onside kick and they stick the guy with the best hands on the team right there.

Other than McBriar, who might be having one of the best punting seasons ever, our special teams have been pretty awful for the past few weeks.

Try kicking a ball 10 yards and recovering it in 2 seconds. Options are limited.

the clock starts the moment the first player touches the ball. So the clock is not really a concern in this situation. We could've even faked the onside and go deep and try to recover it there with one shot left on the clock (I think the Commanders did something like this two years ago in the playoffs at Seattle)
