I've narrowed everything down, and it seems my graphics card is loose. I know how to open my case. I would just like to know what safety precautions I should take before doing so. EX: What surface should I open the case on, etc.

#1 unplug the power cord
#2 touch something metal to discharge any static electricity

As are as a surface I just use whatever is the easiest but you might want to avoid carpet. A wood/non conductive surface is best.

Thanks! Wish me luck. lol

Well I removed the graphics card, and put it back in firmly. That still didn't fix my problem. There seems to be horizontal "ghosting" white lines on every line of text.

I think the monitor is the problem. I've been reading about bad cables. This monitor sucks anyway.

If you had mentioned that problem to begin with I could have saved you some trouble. :laugh2:

I'll get a new monitor when my paypal payment comes in.

I wish you would have posted this last week. I just got a new 27" monitor and gave my 17" one to the goodwill. I would have given it to you, It was only 6mos old.

It could be a bad graphics card too. I just had a graphics card go bad in a Dell Latitude machine that I'm in the middle of replacing.
