Opinion....CB/RB first/second picks.

I think the way this draft "seems" to be playing out...It looks like unless someone falls to us that is a bit of a suprise....I think we go CB/RB in round one and two.

Could be RB/CB...not sure which order but I think we will get the best BPA Value of those two positions in the first two rounds. I don't know if we will get a top DE, LB or DT (3tech) that will fall to us in the first round. I also don't know if Gordon or Gurley fall to us but if Gurley does I think they snatch him up.

So I think it will play out with us taking a good CB in the first and going running back in the second.

Still early but that is my gut feeling, could change by the time the draft comes around.

I am thinking the same thing. Just about every way I think about it, I see either RB or CB being the clear cut BAP at our first and second round picks.

Of course, the draft is nothing if not unpredictable, so we will have to see... but it sure looks that way right now.

I know these fanspeak mock drafts will change their big boards multiple times before the draft. I know they are just mock drafts to have fun with.

However last year I did a boat load of those mock drafts just to past the time and more times than not the BPA player that would fall to us was Zack Martin. Sometimes Ryan Shazier would fall but I never really thought he was someone they were targeting so I just passed on him.

But many times I would find myself having to go with Zack Martin (was not upset with it as I liked him) over other DT/DE players because the better ones were already taken and the other ones left seemed like late first or second round players.

This year, so far...it seems like RB and CB tend to be the best players available on the majority of the mocks I have done. I am left with RB or CB being the BPA and the other players on defense tend to be players that are a little later in the first or early second round like Goldman, DT Davis, LB McKinney.

Again...I know it is early and I know it is from the mock draft sites. Just an observation.

What I want is for Brown to drop to us and we take him

What I think we do is take CB because we have bodies at DL and CB is a highly paid position and we may be thinking of parting ways with Carr and Claiborne is a waste

If this is the case I hope we trade back to top of second and take the CB and use rd 2-3 picks on DL

I don't want a RB in the first 2 rds. I think we either get AP or pick a very good value in rd 3

Yeah, I agree with you there. I think you can get a solid overall picture from tinkering with it often. You see who will likely be gone and who won't be.

Being left with CB and RB is what happens most often to me too but all it would take is one change, and that could be different. Like Eric Kendricks, who is always gone by 27 in the Fanspeak mocks, could be there and over ride a corner or RB.

Anyway, yeah I agree. CB and RB is usually what it comes down to.

My gut feeling is both KJ and Jones will be gone by 27,I hope we don't reach for someone like Darby.

Can't imagine they'd reach for anyone.
I guess if their board had someone rated higher than we did it might appear to be a reach though. Doubt that Darby would be rated a 1st rounder by them but you never know for sure.
But overall, they have seemed very logical about the draft lately.

Based on the initial list of players coming in for an official visit I think you're right BP.

I doubt all of the DE, DT, CB, and RB are all gone and if they are then someone like Peat will be there.

Worst case scenario is Kendricks and that isn't bad.

Yeah CB would be my guess at the moment... I have Gordon, Clemmings, and Flowers all possibly falling out of the first round even though most mocks got them pegged in it. Landon Collins would be my dark horse I think he has a chance to be there at 27 because many teams would probably view him as a hybrid safety/nickel LB type similar to Deone Bucannon who coincidentally was picked at 27 last year.

If Peat is there but they have a CB who is rated a little below Peat...I think they take the CB first.
If Kendricks is there I think they take him all day.
