OPINION: On Adam Jones

Once the season is over is when we need to worry that he will say to himself, "I've been good. It'll be okay to let Pacman come out and play a little."

Of course the media is not going to lack for ways to invent how he can screw up. They already have. Reporting the number of strip clubs in the DFW area for instance.

I don't know Hos. I've posted a few times that I don't think he'll make it through the season. My scenario has him saying he can "come out and play a little" at the end of the year. Right around playoff time.

And I say this because I don't think he "gets" it. He hasn't sworn off the strip clubs, just put them on the shelf. Right now, and in the beginning of the year the scrutiny is and will be too intense.

But by the time December/January rolls around, I can see him saying to himself he's deserving to step out for a bit because he doesn't seem to see the problem. More the stance of being the victim. Most if having their livelihood almost completely taken away would absolutely, at least publicly, say "no more ever, period." He can't/won't/hasn't done that.

I suspect you are right. Adam Jones has no drug or drinking problem, apparently, nor has he initiated violence. He has been young and foolish too many times, but that can be outgrown.

Earth to Angus..............

IF he doesn't understand what's at stake after the season is over then he doesn't need to be in the NFL...

I think he understands he will get no further chances. I'm not sure he is still mature enough to live thru it. Fortunately for him, and this is a hunch only, he has baby sitters with him 24-7. At least right now. He will have to escape that to mess up IMO. I would assume JJ is spending 100k a year or more just to watch this guy. He will come off the top of his salary and IMO again is a good investment. It is still a hunch and I have no factual evidence for any of this.

I know a little about this one. Adam Jones wasn't the beast he was made out to be, but he didn't use his best sense, either.

I think the NFL used Adam Jones as an example, and Nashville benefitted from it. I did the drywall in the new Nashville Courthouse, and midway through, they changed the name to the Justice A. A. Birch Building.

At first, I didn't think much of it; but when Adam Jones got suspended, I didn't think they were treating him fairly. Steve McNair got away with dui in Nashville, and some of his teammates were in trouble for getting rough with their wives.

But, when Pac Man appealed, I knew what was going on. His appeal went to none other than A. A. Birch. Turns out, A. A. Birch was head of the labor relations for the NFL, and from Nashville. The NFL wanted someone to make an example of, and he was their man.

Since then , the NFL has met in Nashville and decided where the next Super Bowls were going to be, and Nashville is now appearing cozy in the NFL.

Adam Jones' appeal was an eye opener. He had gotten into two or three arguments with women, and that was where most of his trouble had come from. The appeal listed other NFL players who were not suspended, and they had done everything from weapons charges to statutory rape.

After it was done, Michael Vick made Adam Jones look like a choir boy.

Adam Jones could exercise bad judgment at any time.

The increased structure of football season (team meetings, regular practices and workouts, games, etc.) probably helps him to hold it together. He's likely more vulnerable to screwing up during the offseason when he has more unstructured time on his hands.

Pacman speaks to himself in the first person?

Adam calls himself Pacman?

I hope for his sake that he has learned. Being in Dallas will probably be good for him.

Nashville has it's quirks.

Honestly, no kidding here...

The guy should just rent a suite, invite 9-10 friends over and 9-10 dancers. He should hire a friend as a security guard bouncer to keep everyone in line (maybe 2-3 bouncers). He obviously loves dancers, which is understandable, but he just needs to stay out of public places, especially tiddy bars.

This would take about 15-20k per event but now that he is playing again he should be able to afford this once a month. Calvin Hill could even hang in the other room and watch Larry King Live or something and peek in every now and then.

"Tiddy" bars to go with my "Lamp" dances. I'm glad I'm not alone

i just hate the way the moral majority leader Goodell tells a guy he can't see skanks dancing and taking their clothes off

Yeah well (although the story is a little more complicated than that) he's also the guy who wants to force NFL players to cut their hair to a short "acceptable" length.

Perhaps I am naive but I don't think Adam Jones will be a problem any more

'Tiddy Bar' is the 'pronunication spelling' for a commonly used term to describe a certain type of 'bar'. Your 'lamp' dances may or may not be the same....as I am not familiar with that pronunciation.
Good luck to you though...

Maybe he'll get smart and just put a stipper pole in his house, invite some strippers, and friends over, and just make it rain in the privacy of his own home.

Im not a big fan of this guy at all, as most of you know, but when kickoff comes I really hope he can bring to the field what he did for the Titans.

Plus his Punt Return ability is as good as anyones that doesn't have the last name Hester.

You'll be on his sack soon enough. :flipflop:

If Adam Jones falters, it will be his fault and his alone. He has a number of life experiences to reflect back upon, which common sense should prevent him from repeating. Even if someone were to falsely accuse him of something he hasn't done, in order to profit from his notorious past, the false accusations would not stick if he simply prevents himself from being in the wrong places at the wrong times. And yes, for most people, that is easily doable.

Is there something in the water up there? It's his lifestyle and what that promote's.

I just "hate" the way a grown man needs a baby-sitter.

:starspin I agree, Hos. I'm more concerned about him when he has idle time on his hands......hmmmmm.

I hope he can stay out of trouble but be it next week or next off-season there is no way of knowing when or if that time will come. In my view if Jones can stay away from troubled spots in Dallas he will help his chances big time of avoiding problems
