He is the guy Jerry was talking about possibly moving. But he said that they like him as a nickel corner.

Looks more comfortable in man coverage where he can use his speed to mirror WRs. Looks too tentative in zone, so I dont hink he'd be a good fiot at FS.

Only in nickle and long yardage packages I would say. I don’t think he is tough enough to play the run on an every down basis.

Am I the only one tired of us trying to fix FS with low round draft choices, special teams aces and other experiments? We should just suck it up and spend a first day pick on someone that can play.

I agree. I hope we can get Ko Simpson in the 2nd round or Pat Watkins in the 3rd round.

I disagree. FS's are not first day picks. There are quality and Pro Bowl quality FS's taken on the 2nd day.

Just like FB ... FS is NOT a day 1 pick.

Ed Reed. 1st round draft pick, Defensive MVP 2004.

Moose Johnston, 2nd round draft pick, 3 time SB winner.

Reeves is really starting to look better each year at CB. Let's leave him there, why screw him up with an experiment. When we can draft a FS to be ready now.

I think BP would have already tried this in last years camp if he thought it would be a good move.

I agree Duane.

I see Eddie's point ... lots of good free safeties are picked later.

The problem is Dallas can't seem to find one.

I think they used up all their free safety magic in the 1960s, 70s, 80s and even the 90s.

Many of the Pro Bowlers that have manned that position for Dallas were acquired for cheap:

Cornell Green

Cliff Harris

Michael Downs

Dennis Thurman

Thomas Everett

James Washington

Brock Marion

I guess the luck ran out.

I am totally with ya there Summer ;).

This guy is a special top ten talent ready to be tapped at 18. Passing on him would be the equivalent of passing on a certain Marshall WR for a non edge rusher DE.

Great list Chief and I'll add George Teague to it as well - not great but solid.

My whole point is, we know we have a problem there. It cost us the first Washington game and God knows how much more due to incompetence at the position.

We've gone out this off-season and addressed kicker, WR, ILB and OT to varying degrees of success. If we come out of the draft no better off than where we started and try to fix it with someone already on the roster I'll be disappointed.

Antonio Cromatrie in the 1st round

I can't believe that I finally agree with you. Your boy looked a top five pick when healthy. His ACL injury might be a blessing in disguise. He should be fully healed towards the end of this year. He is extremely big and has sprinters speed which is a rare occurrence. Henry would have to be moved to FS though. Cromartie and Lawson are probably the best pure athletes in this draft. What if both of them are there at 18?

I don't like a FS in the 1st much but I think using a 3rd on a FS, when that's a big weakness is quite sensible. There are quality players taken on the 2nd day at all positions, but counting on a starter in year 1 which IMO is what we need is dicey at best, foolish at worst.

Teague, though, was a first round pick by GB. He didn't pan out for them, but the Cowboys managed to salavage him as a decent player. Even if they do use a high pick, it doesn't necessarily fix the problem and teams believe that its better to build a team by drafting safeties later unless there is a "special" type available.

I would much rather select a great CB prospect and switch Henry (as others have suggested) to FS.

Tommy Everett was a Pro Bowler before he came to the cowboys in, IMO, the 2nd best trade of the early 90s. Don't know what round he was picked in though.
