I've seen quite a few posts where there is concern that we will grossly overpay for Laurent Robinson. I doubt that will be an issue. I believe re-signing Robinson should be one of the team's priorities and, fortunately, I don't see it being that difficult. If you look at the list of FA WRs, Robinson is nowhere near the top, regardless of his good season last year. It's all about supply and demand and there is a nice supply of FA WRs. Teams that are desperate for WR help will overpay for the top names. So guys like Vincent Jackson, Desean Jackson, Marques Colston, Wes Welker, Reggie Wayne, Steve Johnson, and Dwayne Bowe will command the big bucks. Even Pierre Garcon, Robert Meachem and Mario Manningham will likely get better contracts than Robinson. We almost certainly value Robinson more than most other teams. His demand should not be that great, especially with the absurd amount of WR talent out there in FA this year. Romo and this guy click - which is huge. Robinson seems like a stand up guy with something to prove, and he has proven to be clutch. Those things are very important and are why we should re-sign him. Fortunately, I don't see us having to break the bank to keep him.

I agree and have been saying the same thing. He will get some looks but I think it will be from teams looking for a cheaper alternative to the big name WRs. His resume of success is just too short at this time to warrant a longterm big money deal. Now if Jerry goes cheap and signs him to a 1 year deal and he has the same type of year, teams will be lining up to throw money at him. Dallas is fortunate that there are alot of big name FA WRs this year. That will help alot and will probably push Robinson down to teir 2 or teir 3 money.

I think we will get Robinson signed and those WR you mentioned will be hot commodities but they will also cause an increase in the price tag overall among WR.

True, but then you have a guy like Jordy Nelson, who put up bigger numbers for GB, resign earlier this year for 13 million over 3 years. I'd like to think that's more along the lines of what Robinson's worth, vs. comparing him to true number one WR's.

It very well could be what he is looking at. I know there are some bigger name WR who will draw more attention than Robinson and command more money but I think it also tends to raise the price somewhat on the next tier of WR

I look at it the other way. With this many prime WR's entering FA, the market will inflate their price tags. Meaning big deals from Bowe and the Jacksons will increase the price for the 2nd tier guys.

Beat me to it.

I understand what you're thinking, but I still believe that it comes down to supply and demand. Regardless of what the top few guys sign for, it will come down to what kind if demand is left for those 3rd WR types. The people who were willing to spend big on WR will likely have done it already with one of the many bigger names. With so many WRs available, we should not be faced with a bidding war for a guy like LR. Throw in the fact that he would like to stay here and I think we sign him to a reasonable deal.

He has had one good season and a string of injuries before that. He and Romo clearly clicked. That's not the sort of guy teams are going to make a priority. We likely have him slotted for about 2.5 to 3.0 mill a year on a three year deal.

What people are forgetting is the kid from E Carolina we took last year, and Radway coming off the injury. Don't put your thinking hat on, put Jerry's hat on. He might see that as a progress stopper that he already has them for cheap.

I'm not forgetting we have these guys but we are also taking about 1 guy in Harris who was a 6th rd pick and Radway an UDFA. In a league where passing is pretty important you better have more than 2 WR you can count on.

There are a a lot of teams who need Wide Receivers and have starting spots up for grabs so that will drive up the market price.

Teams needing a quality starting receiver.

Cleveland
Buffalo
San Fran
St Louis
Carolina
Washington
Oakland
New England
Baltimore
Seattle
Miami

Thats 12 teams who need another quality starter not to mention overall depth the market could get expensive.

This.........maybe slightly higher, but not much....for the reasons mentioned.
