I thought the purpose of it was to not use markers under the ball that could aid the kick, giving it more lift. I don't think the blade of grass would have any effect. Maybe Dallas needs to get some clarification on that. The rule seems silly if the point of it is to take away things like the sightline.League actually came out about kicking markers before the games this weekend
