Opinions on Sean Lee from Penn St. fans...

I made a post at a few places and only one board has responded yet, but as i get more response ill post them here. All positive so far...

Lee has had some injuries over the past two seasons that made some people overlook him. Had that not happened he would have been a first rounder. In my personal opinion he is the smartest linebacker to play here in recent memory. I can see him working out quite well in the NFL. He is quiet and has a great work ethic, something other Cowboys should try and follow too

jerry jones knows what he's doing. he picked a solid person, a knowledgeable football player, and someone who will work his butt off without issue. sean lee has had injuries in the past two seasons that kept his production lower than it would have otherwise have been. i agree with the statement that he has great football knowledge and that knowledge translates to helping the defense stiffle plays and spot things that offenses are doing. for example, a number of times throughout this past season, you would see lee getting other defensive players' attention about what was going on. and in the season he was out, he walked the sidelines screaming formation instructions and pointing things out to the defense from the sidelines because he has an eagle eye for breaking down offensive packages. this is probably why he's involved in most tackles as he knows where the play is going.

Barring injuries he is super safe. Great form tackler, very smart, very hard worker. Not an amazing athlete so he will never be great in coverage or pass rushing. No chance at ever moving outside in a 3-4. Just an ILB tackling machine.

Probably drafted to be Keith Brooking's replacement, although he could possibly take over for the other ILB next year, I forget his name.

My boss at my job just graduated from Penn State.I brought up how the boys picked up Sean Lee and he went nuts..All he talked about was his work ethic, leadership, and how nuts he was on the field..Said nothin but good things about him..And hes an eagles fan!We got a good one fellas

Lee has a very good chance of being the heart, sould, brain and leader of this D for a very long time.

Teammates will rally around him just like Brooking over time.

This guy was coaching with a headset while out with ACL in 2008.

When was the last time you saw that from a college player?

Initially I wasn't happy with this pick simply cause it wasn't a S or OL. More I read about him & realize our need at ILB position, he sure sounds like a really good pick. Also pick his attitude, smarts, etc matches perfectly with Brookings. Bet you these 2 will become thick as thieves as Sean learns everything from Brookings who in turn will want to seriously mentor him. After all Brookings knows his NFL career is coming to a end very soon; bet all he wants to do is win a SB ring before he retires. Wouldn't be surprised if Cowboys don't draft/sign another similar player to Brookings or Sean to replace Bradie James.

I think it was a great pick, because we really didn't have any depth at ILB, and Lee is someone with starting-quality potential.

thats why i want a player like brooking was that pumped the defense up, but a player like that on offense to put some fire into our lackluster, offensive line and roy williams

The grinding work ethic has been here for the past half decade. Adding Lee fits the mindset we want more of, he's not changing the way we do things. He would be adding to it and continuing the trend. It just goes to show you how the Cowboys image to outsiders is glitz, glamour and brashness based off of how this organization was when we were winning Super Bowls in the 1990s. This is not like that at all. We are far more blue collar than white and have been since Coach Parcells.

You want an honest opinion of him, its the same as anyone who was drafted this year regardless of round, Nothing til we see it on the field.

I dont care what the combine was, it doesnt tell you "heart" or "work effort". Two main factors to any competitor.

I think Carpenter has a lot more pretty boy in him than Sean Lee does.

Lee is a lot better then Carp, trust me. What's funny is I remember when we picked Carp, Tom Jackson on ESPN called it the safest pick in the draft, it's funny now.

I'm still excited we got him. For me I have no problem being excited about the prospect of bringing in one of the better players in a draft. If he were to fail then of course I'll be disappointed but I'm not scared or reluctant to put my full support behind these young guys and show enthusiasm

From what i read about Lee he seems like a more physically gifted Dat Ngyuen. THis guy lives and breathes football it seems (unlike some UDFA we just signed :| ) But the only thing we have to worry about is that knee. Then of course i thin our scouting department had to know what they were doing when they said we should not only draft him but move up and draft him.

After seeing the Cowboys whiff on tackling Brandon Marshall last year or not being able to get the Ravens backs to the ground on two long runs on consecutive series, I'll take a sure tackling linebacker to go, please.

I want to believe this, but its hard when it comes to putting stock in linebackers lately.

I really dont think anyone prefered the pick, but consider what was around him hasnt been all that special either, *coming from bad memory* it didnt seem we were going to get much production from that pick vs our needs. At least from what i remember, someone will be around to enlighten me on how HORRIBLE we was, im sure.
