Just curious because I’m sure he’s a polarizing prospect. College production says late round flier, but measurables and athletic ability are top 5 worthy.

So how would you feel if he’s the pick?

I will take production over measurables all day long. If it does not translate to the field what is the point?

I can't justify a first round pick on a guy who never produced. The underwear numbers are great and all, but if they don't translate on the field into actual production, then they mean absolutely nothing.

I can’t help but see Shemar Stewart as a VERY similar player to Travon Walker and he proved this theory wrong.

I would never have taken Travon Walker #1 overall, nor would I have taken him over Aidan Hutchinson.

I'd prefer Landon Jackson in the 2nd because I think he was miscast in his role at Arkansas over Stewart at 12. Ideally if you could trade back acquire an additional 2nd draft Ebuka late 1st, Jackson in 2nd and a RB/CB with the other 2nd and 3rd round picks, it would go a long way in fixing the holes on this team.

So what's the deal with A&M? They had Shemar Stewart, Nic Scourton, Walter Nolan, and Shemar Thomas all on their defensive at one point. That is 4 top 100 prospects and 2 surefire 1st rounders maybe 3 ...I don't follow college football, were the Aggies a top team? With that defensive line they they should have had opposing offenses scared!

The lack of production has a lot to do with how college offenses play. So many teams are running read option with mobile QB’s that defenses are better off playing read and react rather than pinning their ears back to get into the backfield.
Georgia is the exact same way. Look at all of the front 7 players they have had drafted top 50 and there’s very little college production among any of them…including Jalen Carter.

One thing Ill say is Stewart is actually a pretty good football player. Just very raw as a pass rusher, especially as a finisher. Right now he is probably more of a pocket collapser than a real pass rusher. Very good as a run defender. If he plays in the 280-290 range, he could also kick inside at times on passing downs. He isn't my first choice, but I would like the pick. If he "busts", I still think he winds up a useful player. I dont think his floor is as low as people seem to believe

In that case I would use a 4th round pick or lowere.
That’s a stretch for me…the kid from UGA went 1 overall with similar traits and no production and he’s turned into a good player.

Stewart will go in the 1st just not my preference.

We can't afford to gamble. Jerry's gambling has not paid off in a long time.

I'm not a fan of taking players who lack college production, at least not in the first round. You can get lucky and his traits pay off, but there's a little too much risk for me.

If Will Johnson is gone, Stewart might be the best available on the board. Provided nobody in the top 5 fall to us.

Maybe start looking mid 20s!
No way you seriously consider him at 12.
Burch has close to the same measurables, might be there at 44 and actually produced!
