Guys like Brown are the life blood of the team in terms of salary cap management. Heis arguably going to be better than Carr who we paid $50 million to sign.

People get way too hung up on where a guy was drafted. After we draft them it is irrelevant where they were drafted.

What's so deceptive about scouting is that if a player isn't from a big school or didn't play in a scheme that showcased their abilities and talents or weren't on television much, some fans and scouts think they're not going to be good enough to play in the NFL. But there are a lot of guys who have talent and can play. They just have to get an opportunity to do so - and the coaching too.

He's one of the reasons I think we should let Claiborne walk.

Could you imagine, though, with Claiborne's injury, Scandrick not playing up to his usual level much of the year, and Carr, Wilcox, and Church all heading into free agency? As it is, we're exposed. It could have been a lot worse.

This was the main reason I though passing on Ramsey at #4 was mistake last season. Getting Brown and then watching Elliott blow up (although Elliott only outperformed my expectations by a few hundred yards and some really impressive pass protection, really). In retrospect, that debate might look silly, but at the time, given where the team was and what they should have anticipated was likely to happen, they took a significant risk. I'm not even going to get into doubling down on that risk at #34.

but hes not a first rounder. if he was better he wouldve been.

He outperformed a number of players taken in the first round at his position in recent years.

Players get drafted in lower rounds than they belong all the time. Whether Brown was a legit first rounder or not, there's no doubt he turned in a surprisingly productive season relative to where he was taken. So you can't just look at the draft round and assume that's validation of his skill level or athletic ability.

what i look at is dallas doesnt really give up big plays, but a big majority of their big plays given up were on him. Alot of PI calls on him on them deep routes too. Not saying hes bad, im just saying they can upgrade.

I think Brown rookie season compares very well to Josh Norman rookie season.

He was a steal. Played corner and slot. I thought he was better in the slot than Scandrick. Historically, if the Cowboys don't draft a corner in the top of the first round, their track record is pretty bad. They hit on a solid player in AB.

He's pretty darn good when you consider he's a sixth round pick with a sixth rounder's salary. We keep drafting like this and we'll have all kinds of good problems.

He played better than that CB (forgot his name) the Jags took with the 5th pick in the draft.

He is better on the right side than the left. He can easily start for this team on that side and be an upgrade from Carr. Picked Weeden in preseason and picked Eli in regular season both on the right side.

Did he really give up a big majority of their big plays though? I don't remember that. I remember teams going after him for a couple weeks there late in the season...(was it the MIN game?). I know he gave up a couple big plays, but by and large, it seems to me he acquitted himself pretty well. The whole defense did, really, except in games like the PIT game and the second GB game where really talented QBs were able to just beat the coverage straight up. But even then, it wasn't like the coverage was bad, it was just what elite QBs do to you if you only have half of the defensive equation.

He seemed better than Carr to me, had a few games that were really pretty stellar . Could not ask for much more from a rookie. Don't see why he can't be a starter for us.
