The dead money for 2015 is already factored in that $142.2M top 51 salary cap estimate. Fuzzy we have to restructure no matter what to get under if the cap is indeed $140M.

Not all dead money comes off the books, Austin's remaining dead money will be there because he was June 1 cut. Orton's $2M will be there too.

Right now we are looking at about $7.5M in dead money for 2015.

Dez has no contract right now, but the carryover for this year into next year would be any free cap space we have at the end of this league year.

What exactly are you worried about? Do you think they won't be able to sign Dez or free agents next season? Or are you just disliking it because you don't like the idea of borrowing money in general? The season is in three weeks.

Dez will get his contract but they are going to have to restructure a few more contracts just to get under the cap again next year. How much they move into future years depends on what they want to accomplish in FA.

The fact remains that they are going to eat someone's contract with alot of dead money again pretty soon.

If the Cowboys managed their cap effectively they wouldn't run into these cap problems and would have money to bring in quality FAs and not the guys nobody else wants.

i don't know what to tell you. I think the cap will go up significantly. I think the Cowboys will continue to restructure/cut guys like Smith, Free, Carr, and Dez when his time comes. I think their accounting practices will be fine.

Remember last year was when we went in near $30m over. This is nothing.

The team saves 7MM if they cut Doug Free, or more likely, force him to take a pay cut.

They could also cut Melton. His contract doesn't vest unless he's on the team the first day of league year 2015 and he's scheduled to count nine million. They save most of that should he be cut.

With just that and dealing with the Free situation you could probably fit the Bryant contract under the cap without any restructuring at all.

And about $16M of that is counting against us in the dead money this year. (Ware's restructure, Austin's restructure, and Ratliff's restructure)

If we would have been able to afford that in earlier years w/o restructuring, we would have an extra $9M of free space on top of the $9.5M we have now.
