In 2014, our defense allowed teams to complete 66% of their passes, our only blessing was that we controlled the clock with a strong running game.

However, it was all good until we went to Greenbay and fell behind, and when we needed a stop so Romo co. could get another opportunity, our defense could not stop the pass.

The last 6 Super Bowl winners allowed 62% or less:

    2018 NE 61%
    2017 Philthy 60%
    2016 NE 62%
    2015 DEN 60%
    2014 NE 60%
    2013 SEA 59%

That may be, but I still don’t think you can look at completion percentage in a vacuum.

Agree. Too many circumstances to consider like completions and yard in garbage time. Without some context, its meaningless.

2 things I don't fully trust in January: The defense and Jason Garrett

For the rest of the regular season I think they'll be okay as long as they don't give up more than 20 points a game.

We were among the worst in completion percentage allowed in 2018 so context doesn't mean much. Unless you're insinuating that we had an entire season of situations where we purposely gave up high completion rates..

Saw video that basically said Dallas plays a conservative style defense because they feel they are little light at CB. They better figure this out because Jones wants new deal this season and Chido probably wants new deal next year. This is twice this year I have heard an analyst state that Chido has average coverage skills.

...So far it's only the first game of the 2019 season....They haven't even gotten Quinn back yet...to early for comparisons and %'s and stats...give it to about the 6th game ...then we'll see where they are at!...

No what i'm saying is completion percentage alone is meaingless. What was the YPA? What was our scoring defense?

For your information we ranked 9th in defensive DVOA.

That's what happens when you're weak up the middle on D. There were people who were proclaiming how good QB's like Vince Young were, as he tore us up, even though he blew against most teams.

You simply cannot let QB's have tons of time in the pocket. They get comfortable and start hitting WR's. All good D's have interior disruption. We can take the next step on D when we dump this ridiculous idea of playing two 3 techs at DT.

The 4th quarter prevent defense helps skew these numbers.

Why can't we be a defense who forces the issue? A bend but don't break offense does zero help for the offense. They don't make plays. Turnovers are always low. Our secondary is god awful at making plays on the ball or getting turnovers. At some point you have to help and make plays to flip the field. Bend but don't break defense does none of that. It is still a win for the offense if they drive the ball down the ball constantly and even if they don't score, they pin us deep with punts. Offenses are not driving for long scores with regularity in the league.

And then the offense gets blamed for it. Our defense has been pure junk in the divisional round of the playoffs for the last decade.

It’s the style of defense we play. Teams also have a pretty low YPA and YPC against us.

I hate our style especially when we get to the postseason.
