optimism for 2012

Not really. Not in the role he's in now.

But have fun believing that.

..........It's sad that so many guys on here stick up for that clown. The fact 100k per home game also don't seem to mind is a huge part of the problem too: STOP supporting mediocrity folks. As soon as the old man starts losing massive amounts of money, he'll make real changes: and not before then.

I know I am not spending any money for Cowboy apparel or tickets. I will continue to watch games on TV which I guess does put money in Jerry's pocket but I will not buy anything until we field a winner. By winner I mean making it to the the NFC championship game or further.

Optimism comes pretty easy in the NFL, especially if you have a quality QB. The league is built for parity and every year players seemingly rise out of nowhere. That happens in every major sport, but seems to happen more with football. So, even if you don't believe in your front office, you still never know. Bleep happens.

Confidence is a different matter. I don't think they'll truly have confidence as a team until they handle the Eagles and Giants. They have to jump those hurdles if they want to play any meaningful games in early 2013.

I have no optimism until I see what we do in FA and the draft. But I could have a ton of optimism after that. I'm not part of the crowd who thinks we're multiple years away. We can compete next year with the right changes.

^^basically. With the amount of ridicule and disrespect the Cowboys have gotten in recent years, especially this year. This offseason is big since a lot of the top players are getting older. We need to sign and draft the right people and stop worrying about who can fit the 3-4 or not. I still think it is ******** not to sign Robert Mathis because of a scheme. There is no way Id pass up a chance to pair him with Ware just because of scheme. That is what losers do. The guy is a championship player with leadership. Change the damn scheme Rob! It's about football players not handicapping yourself.

Cowboys are two years away from competing for a Superbowl, destined to finsh third in the NFL east next year again and out of the playoffs, too many holes to fill in one offseason

They were a few plays away from being 12-4 last year. With a good offseason, there's no reason they can't be competitive.

Absurd.

I heard Jerry gets $ everytime you post....

Not to toot my own horn, but I predicted 8-8 in the preseason thread and I was spot on. I said the offensive line and secondary would keep this team out of the playoffs.

As for next year, I expect no playoffs again. This is because our schedule is going to be brutal and we have a head coach that is learning on the job.

with the partiy of hte nfl and the giants proving you only play the last few games, personally i think any team that can bar injuries the best has the best chance.
Excellent post. How it applies to this franchise is questionable, however. Plain, old-fashioned, on-the-field mistakes and lack of execution continue to dog this team each season during critical situations.

Overall roster health is a key component at crunch time a.k.a. the postseason. On the other hand, this team cannot seem to nip the stupid mistake tendency in the butt. Hopefully, Jason Garrett will finally corral that problem, sooner than later.

i agree whole heartedly, but i forgot to bring up the penatlies and stupid stuff beacuse in my heart of hearts i think Jason will take care those problems. I am also hoping with the new coaches they bring more fire to the team and more passion to be hungry and know when get hungry. I am hoping beyond hope the new DB coach has our guys more blood thirsty and willing to make plays to change the games in our favor. I am enthralled with the new Oline coach and what he brings to the team and I think with a new offseason and lots of time our strenght and condition coach whos no slouch, will eliminate injuries and stop the whiners from using the hamstring manuever to sit the sidelines.

There is no reason why we cannot be a serious contender in 2012. None at all. The draft position is prime. The cap room is prime. The plan towards the future is right.

I am not saying we will win it all. I am saying we could.

I think we have a better than average shot. Some of the problems i feel persisted with this team came from the coaches that were fired. Im not saying all, and I think with a few more releases and not just youth thrown in but other veterans with other ideas and playing style could really bolster this team to become a serious contender and not a "well we just started playing in december" contender. I feel some teams use the schedule way to much to their advantage and allow the teams that are buiilt to beat them and beat the teams that falter through out the season as a means to get into the playoffs.

Last year i saw no reason for the Falcons to be in teh playoffs nor detriot. This year id rather see stronger teams than the parity we've been seeing. Its nice that the NFL tried it now lets go back to building strong dominant teams and if you win, you win because u earned it.

Well in almost 8 years I have barely broken a 1000 post so I'm not putting too much in his pocket.:D
