Organic Tanking

Here we go folks here is the term to use! I think at least. Best of both worlds. A bit grey I know but I think it works. What do you think?

Mike Fisher has coined the term "Organic Tanking" on 105.5 The Fan to describe the Cowboys rest of the season (2 more games).

"Lose on purpose? No. priorities in addition to winning – like protecting dinged-up veterans and eyeballing young prospects and hey, if you happen to lose, “lose with valor”?

Yessir. That’s “organic tanking”: you don’t lose on purpose … It just kind of happens."

These games are going to be tight regardless of how they try to manipulate things. Maybe the Buffalo game gets away from us, but could easily see them winning vs Washington.

"controlled" would presume that you are controlling the tanking or having some direct measures in place towards the goal of tanking would it not?

on the surface it sounds right but the more i think of the term i find it to be the opposite of "organic". unless thats what you mean?

Think of it as deception, this way Garrett does not look like a fool for saying everyone is going down fighting. If this game counted for anything, players that are sitting would be in there. I give him credit, he could run for political office. He always seems to be able to wiggle his way out of corners and still come out the other end with his reputation intact.

I think the NFL should have a Draft Lottery. A team should not be outright rewarded for losing.

I would take all the 20 non-playoff teams and have a random draw. The most spots a team could move up or down would be 10....for example if DAL had the 13 number spot and was the first team drawn they would move up to number 3. Anyone in the Top 10 would obviously move up to the top spot.

The picks could be weighted to give a better chance to the worse teams but not too heavily.

Drawing could be halftime of the Pro Bowl.

How is that different from what we've been doing? How about we continue to do what we've been doing and that will ensure that we have the highest pick possible. Lol.
